Camerman catches 93 sophomores getting pep talk from Coach Allen Davis and Coach Flash Mickkelson before they were issued suits this week at Orem High. This as far as we know is the largest turnout for sophomore football in the history of football at Orem. Over 200 boys will make a try for positions on the sophomore and senior teams at Orem this year. 105 additional suits were issued to seniors and juniors. This is the largest turnout turn-out in the history of the school. ;-The 105 consists of juniors and seniors. In addition 93 sophomores sopho-mores reported for action. This year the football coach ;' , will probably have to make some " cuts, this is something that has " never been done at the Orem school according to the reports ';' we have. Usually the dropouts. ' ' have taken care of eliminating ;'" enough boys to cut the squad " down to a workable size. To start out the coaches at-the at-the school will work the boys in two sessions a day. The sen- iors will workout at 7 in the morn- ; ing and 6.30 in the evening. The juniors will workout at 8:30 in ; the morning and 5:00 at night. This proceedure will be carried out until the coaches can form a working nucleus. The Tiger squads usually have consisted of 35 to 45 players. The Tigers meet Pleasant Grove in the first league game of the season. They, will meet the Vikings on Friday September 6 on the Orem field to kick-off kick-off the 1968 football season. The Tigers this year will be led by Bruce Thomas a rugged linebacker, David Stanley end, who is expected to have a great year, and Elusive Craig Crompton, Cromp-ton, halfback. Set to run through September 8, this year's hunt includes the Labor Day weekend for archers in pursuit of animals of either sex on a statewide basis except ex-cept for the Oak City Unit which is closed to all deer hunting this year. Hunters who buy an archery tag are not eligible to possess a deer control permit, however, hunters may fill both their archery and regular license tags during the archery season as ,long as both are filled with the bow and arrow. There are no clothing requirements require-ments for the bow hunt. Other regulations such as carrying the bow permit at all times while hunting and the tagging regulation remain the same as past archery hunts. : ' ' In 1967, 12,108 hunters harvested har-vested 2,067 deer for a 17 hunter success.
