Show Orem-Geneva Times Thursday, Feb. 16, 1961 Qrem-Qaieva Times Second Place Tigers To Invade Payson Lion's Home Court Tonighf by Jim Rawson Orem High's Tigers walked away from a weak Springville squad Frday night, coming out on top of a 56-41 score. The Tigers won their fifth game against two setbacks keeping hold of their tie for second place position with Spanish Fork, behind league leading Provo. Their next foe will be Payson at Payson tonight. . The game turned out to be a do-anyhing -to-get-the-ball type of contest, with both teams excelling in the foul department. de-partment. Kay Wilkinson, backcourt ace of the Tigers, opened the game with a jump shot from the top of the foul circle, and as far as the Red Devils were concerned, they couldn't get within striking distance to really threaten the Tigers. The second period seemed to be the ball game as the Tiger's defense and offense jelled almost al-most to. perfection, allowing the Devils only two buckets and a total of seven points, while collecting 17 themselves. Second half play was all down hill for the Tigers as both teams played about even, but Orem coming out on top. With three more games to play, Orem is all but in the state tourney. One more win should clinch the state berth. Kay Wilkinson, who is making mak-ing an excellent bid for all region honors, led both teams in scoring with 15 points. Jan Felix of Springville, who played an outstanding offensive offen-sive game, pumped through 14 points. Aiding the Orem cause, Dean Louder chipped in with 12, followed closely by Dan Goulding with 11 points.
