Show Orem Residents Visit California Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence S. Maycock and Mr., and Mrs. Merlin R. Manning, left together togeth-er last Thursday May 29th, for California to spend, the Memorial Mem-orial Day week-end with their children and to visit other relatives rela-tives and friends in California. The two couples traveled together togeth-er and the Maycocks stopping off with their son, Booth May-cock May-cock and his famiy in Whittier, and the Mannings going on to San Deigo to be with their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. ' Carlos A. Langston. On Monday the Mannings drove back up the coast and stopped at Manhattan Beach, and visited visit-ed their nephew Elder Mart Paulson, who is serving in the ' California Mission. Then on to Whittier where they again met the Maycocks and from there drove alone the Coast route to San Francisco to visit for two or three days and visiting tne places of interest there. They attended a baseball game on Wednesday seeing the San Francisco Giants defeat the Milwaukee Mil-waukee Braves in a close 12 in-nine in-nine came. They left San Fran cisco on Friday and arriving home Saturday evening. Orem Businessman Wins Movie Camera David A. Taylor, of Taylor Carpet, Orem and Spanish Fork, was recently named a winner in a nation-wide contest among Alexander Smith Carpet dealers. Recognizing the importajnce of attractive window displays the Alexander Smith Company invited its dealers to submit photographs of their windows during a recent period. Mr. Tay lor's display was cited fof Its excellence, and he was award -ed a motion picture camera as a prize. Mr. Taylor operates the M. R. The Bride-tobe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Miner of Vineyard. The Groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Taylor of Provo. Sheriff were honored as new Mr. and Mrs. recently in the Sunset LDS Ward hall in Provo. The couple were married mar-ried May 16 by Bishop Robert Jackson. Sally is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Clements of Provo, and Larry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sheriff of Orem. Mrs. Shirley Larson was matron of honor and bridesmaids included Jeannie Dixon, Beverly Lowe, Ruth Killpack, Diane Clements, Carolee Jaynor and JoAnn Farrer. Hank Clements and Cleon Sheriff greeted the guests while Mrs. Mignon Griffiths was at the guest book. Miss Utah Entrants Judged This Month Miss Utah will be selected in Salt Lake City during judging June 9th, 10th, and 11th. The entrants will be judged in the following catergories: Beauty, Personality, Talent and Intelligence. Intelli-gence. The contest which annually chooses the most talented and beautiful girl in the state will provide awards to winners in the form of cash through the Scholarship Foundation, according accord-ing to Mrs. A. Ipson, Orem; and the late Dean J. Murdock, has chosen July 11 as the day she will become the bride of Larry A. Dotson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dotson, of Panaca, Nev. The wedding will take place in the Manti LDS Temple. A Garden reception at the home of the bride will follow that evening, and Mr. Dotsons' parents will be hosts later at a reception in Panaca. Joyce graduated from Lincoln Lin-coln High School in Orem and the LDS Seminary. Mr. Dotson graduated from Lincoln County High School In Nevada, attended at-tended BYU and is presently serving an LDS mission.
