ProIdMl, National Chiropractic Aitociatien Common Mistakes About ' The Common Cold In the 18th century, epidemics with symptoms like our "common "com-mon colds" swept Europe. It was believed they were imported by the crews of sailing ships. It was known as "nautical fever." In 1919, following World War I, it was clubbed "the Spanish Influenza"; In-fluenza"; in the past year its new alias is "Asian (or Asiatic) Flu." But a rose by any other name will still make your nose run. There are symptoms which are often diagnosed as colds, but these symptoms are the result of something which has happened to the cold victim long before the affliction occurred. Normal body elimination is important in preventing a cold. If these eliminations elimi-nations are normal, the proper resistance against colds is present pre-sent If the flow of nerve energy which controls the bowels, kid neys, colon, bladder, and pores ' of the skin is reduced by interference, inter-ference, these organs are weakened weak-ened and prevented from working work-ing at the task nature assigned them. Resistance is lowered; the organism cannot put up a fight, and often this results in a "common "com-mon cold." The chiropractor attacks the cause of the cold ad removes it. The average citizen may often use aspirin, or aspirin passinjr under some similar name. Thp, doctor of chiropractic, with hif soothinjr corrective treatments, soon increases the flow of vital nerve force to the eliminative organs, brings them to the po:nt of normal elimination and capable capa-ble resistance by establishing normal nerve flow to the affected organs. Aspirin deadens the nerves, "drugs" them, but the cause of the cold remains. Tem porary relief may result, but the real cause of the trouble has not been approached in the right manner and will recur at the lightest provocation. ily have been listed on both honor rolls at the same time, ac cording to Quinn Hatch, prin cipal.
