Mower, president of the Utah County Association for Mental health. The Association will par ticipate in National Mental Health Week April 27th to May 3rd he said. Mental Health Week activities will help make known the facts that more mentally men-tally ill patients are recovering. Mental illness remains the nation's number 1 health problem. There are stil 750,000 patients in our mental hospitals with 16,-000,000 16,-000,000 other Americans suffering suffer-ing from some mental disorder. Square Dance Club To Feature Noted Caller The Flirts and Skirts square dance club are sponsoring Randy Ran-dy Stephens, well known Provo caller, Mon., May 5th at the Wasatch Wa-satch School in Provo, at 8:30 p. m. All square dance dance are invited as well as the public in general. VFW Presents Party At State Hospital Orem No. 8376 VFW Auxiliary presented their monthly ward party to ward 7 and 8 at the State Hospital Monday night. The auxiliary has been giving these monthly parties to the wards since last fall. Dancing and Bingo was enjoyed en-joyed and light refreshments was served at the end of the evening. Those attending from the post auxiliary were: Commander and Mrs. Frank Dart, auxiliary pre-s'dent pre-s'dent Bly Houston, Minervia Cheney, co-hospital chairman, Lola Lees, Ruth Morgan, and Leah Johnson. Mrs. Cheney was in charge of this event in the absence of Loretta Campbell, hospital chairman. Recent Orem Bride Feted At Shower Mrs. Delbert Gill Norman (Shirlean Ross) a recent bride, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Ross, was the guest of honor at a recent personal shower show-er at the home of Mrs. Cragun of Springville. The evening was spent making mak-ing a scrap book about the lives of the new bride and groom. Special guests included Mrs. Delbert F. Norman, mother-in- law, her two daughters, Mrs. Elaine Schow, Elna Norman and Mrs. Sylvan Ross. Dainty refreshments were served to twenty-five guests. Miniature unbrellas were used as favors. because they cannot get a wel come, a home or a job. Clubs, civic and religious groups can obtain speakers and programs on mental health sub jects by contacting the local office, of-fice, 48 North University in Provo. Mower stressed the fact that with the help of everyone, the mentaly ill can come back. Rites Held For Former Orem Man Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Geneva Ward Chapel for Harold "Halie" Adams, 50 who died at his home 1325 N. 1750 W., April 25, of a heart attack. He was born April 7, 1908 in Provo, the son of George and Temperence M. Evans Adams. He received his education in the Orem schools, graduating from Lincoln High School. He then worked with his father and brothers on the family farm. On Dec. 28, 1927, he mar red Olive Reynolds of Pan. guitch. She died June 27, 1953. He later married Ann Steere Johnston on Feb. 8, 1958. He had worked for Orem City and the Utah State Road Commission. In 1945 he began work for the Union Pacific Railroad at the Provo yards. For the oast five years he had been a car in spector at Geneva. He was a member of the National Broth erhood of Railway workers. Mr. Adams was a member of the LDS Church. He was aiso a member of the Provo Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, four sons and one daughter, Harold Dean Adams, Ogden; William Don Adams, Santa Monica, Calif; Max Leone and Allan Reed Adams, both of Provo, and M r s. (Diane) Christiansen, Orem; three grandchildren: five brothers and three sisters, Glen, Eldon, William D., John E. and Ronald Adams, all of Orem: Maude Readicker. Downev. Calif.; Lula Backus, Mesa, Ariz., and Alene Christensen, Provo. Berg Mortuary of Orem, was in charge of the service. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery. Missionary Parents Hold Meeting: Parents of missionaries met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milt R. Littlefield Sunday evening. even-ing. Merlin Rowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rowley, reported re-ported his experienes in the Central States mission. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Ballantyne, Mrs. Acel Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Patten, Pat-ten, Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Moon and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Horlac-her. Horlac-her. Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting. Orem 5th Group Enjoy Art Exhibit Twenty-eight members of the Genealogical committee of the Orem 5th Ward held a farewell fare-well meeting (because of the division of the ward) recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Thalman. A delicious Pot luck dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs . Frank Price were in charge of the entertainment enter-tainment and made it possible for the group to go through tin1 Springville Art Exhibit. Honored guests were Bishop and Mrs. James Jensen and Bishop Bis-hop and Mrs. Stanley Leavitt of the 5th and 20th wards. Orem Literary Enjoy Program Mrs. James G. Stratton presented pre-sented the program of Music and Poetry of spring ftr. member of the Orem Literary Club recently when they met at the home of Mrs. A. V. Washburn, Wash-burn, hostess for the day. A beautiful floral display of pink peach blossoms and daffodils were in the room where luncheon was served on snail tables. The hostess was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Gordon McCausland. The group was welcomed by the club president, Mrs. E. H. Calder, and report on the federated fed-erated club conventon just concluded con-cluded was given by Mrs. C. T. Pyne. During the program Mrs. Stratton sang several selections. Mrs. Russell Kitchen and daughter, daugh-ter, Deanna, also played several organ selections and the group also sang. There were 16 mem-bes mem-bes and guests present. Orem Garden Club Sets Tour Saturday Flower and rockgarden enthusiasts en-thusiasts are all invited to join in on the first of a series of gar. den tours, sponsored by the Orem Garden Club, to be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The group will meet at the City Hall and then progress to the yards of Mr. and Mrs. John York of Orem for the first visit, reports Mrs. Anthon B. Christensen, Christ-ensen, chairman of the tour. If divine Love is becoming near, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit. The objects we pursue and the spirit we manifest reveal our stand point, and show what we are winning."
