Show ORGANIZATION OF OREM 4-H CLUBS IS SOUGHT BY TWO OREM SUPERVISORS 4-H Clubs for girls are now being organized, according to Jenniev Poulson, Utah County Home Agent. Club organizations will be completed by June 1st, and after that time no more clubs will be organized for 1957. Girls who are interested in joining a club should contact the supervisor of 4-H club work in their community. . The supervisors supervi-sors of Orem are; Mrs. Paul Vincent Vin-cent and Mrs. Richard Newman. 4-H clubs are led by volunteer volun-teer leaders. Training is also given by the County Home Agents for the projects they will lead. Mothers who want their daughters enrolled in 4-H club work have a responsibility to , either lead clubs or to help find volunteer leaders for their ! daughters' clubs. I The purpose of the 4-H club work program is to aid in the I development of good citizens I and homemakers. Girls from 10-; 10-; 21 enroll in club work. Girls I take projects which are centered I around the home. They take projects in foods, clothing, home I improvement, and home beauti- fication. Supplementary to these projects they take health, safety and recreation. If a girl is interested in becoming becom-ing a 4-H club member, contact the supervisor in your area or call the County Home Agent. Dawson ORPHANS BILL A most distressing legislative impasse has developed in Washington which is threatening a bill I have introduced to permit 5000 alien orphan children to come to this country for adoption by childless couples who want to give them a good home. This leg islation which has the support of nearly every member of Con gress requires an amendment to our Immigration laws about which there is anything but unanimity of opinion. National adjutant of the auxi liary Ann E. Weber of Colorado Springs Colo, will represent the national department of the auxi liary at the Utah convention. Governor George D. Clyde will be among several distin guished guests from Utah attending at-tending and will speak at the banquet Saturday night. This is the 35th, Dept. con vention of the DAV, all members mem-bers of the DAV and auxiliary are urged to attend the conven tion if possible. (AHTNC) Pvt. Koleri Zufelt, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Zufelt, 29 E. 750 N. Orem, Utah recently was graduated from the carpentry course at Fort Leonard Leon-ard Wood, Mo. In the five-week course, Zufelt Zu-felt was taught to inspect and repair buildings. He learned the use of jacks and bridging, the replacement of joints, repair of timber trusses and cutting of new windows and doors. Zufelt entered the Army last December and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. He attended Durango (Colo.) High School. HONOLULU STUDENTS HONOR PRINCIPAL FENTON PRINCE One of the meanings of Hawaii s "Aloha" was demonstrated demonstr-ated recently for Fenton J. Prince of Orem. Mr. Prince went to Honolulu last August, as exchange pwjei-pal pwjei-pal at Kuhio school. Miss Alice C. Reid assumed the principal duties at Westmore school. The students of Kuhio school wanted to express their appreci ation to Mr. Prince, who plans to leave Hawaii June 15. liach class decided on a project, and j carried it out under supervision oi me teacners. They made dolls, painted pic tures, compiled scrapbooks, col lected colorful posters on Haw aii, made coconut bowls and threaded leis of paper, wood fib re and native seeds. Mr. Price had no idea how elaborate the projects had been until he was permitted to enter tne display room which aad been set up. A bone fusion was needed to help correct the defect, however, Verle will still need to wear a brace on his leg to walk. He goes to school at the Hillcrest and his teacher is Mrs. Thora H. Mecham and students stu-dents of his class sent a "get well" note to Verle at the hospital.
