TIGERS WORK HARD FOR BIG MEET By BILL JOHNSON The Orem High School track team have been working out every night after sschool in preparation for the Snow College Col-lege Invitational Track and Field Meet to be held Saturday at Ephralm. David Hall will be the big hope for Orem as far as Shot Put is concerned. Throwing the discuss will be Kay Lunceford and Kay Littlefield. Little-field. Rex Wright, Jack Cooper and David will be running the 120 yard high hurdles. The mill will be run by Ber- nell Mecham and Paul Hansen. Representing Orem in the 440 yd. dash will be Roger Harmon. Jack Cooper, Bill Hull, and David Harding will run the 180 yd. low hurdles. Boys 15 years of age and younger in 350 schools and boys clubs will be competing for unit, district and regional tourna-' ment awards. Plans are now being laid in overv nuarterof the state for Pentathlon unit meets, sponsor ed since 1930 by the Salt Lake City Deseret News. Winners of 200 school meets in Utah will be awarded engraved engrav-ed certificates and eligibility for one of 17 district tourneys to be held in the Beehive State. District meet winners will receive re-ceive trophies and medals. They wil gain admission to the Grand Champion Finals planned for May 18 in Salt Lake City. In the Junior Pentathlon each boy participates in five events-broad events-broad jump, high jump, sprint racings, basketball goal throw and ball put. He actually competes com-petes against himself, because each of his marks is awarded points according to his size and age. In pre-season games they defeated Lehl 41 to 0, and P. G. 20 to 4. In the near future games are scheduled with: Carbon, Payson, Springville and Spanish Fork. Orem-Scera Boys Baseball Meeting Slated April 16 A meeting for all area representatives repre-sentatives and coaches and managers man-agers for Little League, Pony League and Chief League base ball teams in Orem-Scera boys baseball program will be held at the Orem City Hall Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p. m. It is important that all coaches and managers be to this meeting meet-ing as the problems of the baseball base-ball season will be discused as well as the fund raising campaign. cam-paign. Volleyball Joust The Orem High School Girls Athletic Association (GJV.A.) will play host to Amercan Fork P leasant Grove and Lehi.
