National Award Leland Gappmayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gappmayer of Orem has been judged the outstanding out-standing farm mechanics boy in the state of Utah the past year in future farmer work. The future farmers of America Foundation award of one hundred hun-dred dollars was awarded at the recent convention of all Ag. and Farm Mechanic teachers at Logan Lo-gan Utah. Leland was a graduate this year from the Lincoln high school and enlisted in the navy upon graduation. Basis for selecting the winner win-ner is the amount of work done on the farm and in the farm shop at school. Leland has been outstanding out-standing in' his completion of time saving devices for use on the farm. Teacher of farm shop bnd Agriculture at the Lincoln high school is Keith Boyer. Future Farmer Notes The, new officers of the FFA at Lincoln high school are now preparing to go on a week's trip to the Yellowstone National park. Burr Family Reunion Honors "Grandma" Burr The Henry U. Burr family reunion was held Saturday at Arrowhead with a large group in attendance. Mrs. Julia Caroline Car-oline Burr, who celebrated her" 88th birthday anniversary in March, was honored at the event. A picnic dinner was enjoyed en-joyed and softball games and swimming featured. An election was held, with Wilford Burr of Burrville, renamed re-named president; Perry Burr of Provo and DeLoss Waters of Idaho Falls, vice presidents, Mrs. Ruth Millet, secretary; Elmer E. Waters, in charge of temple records. Wilford Burr was master of ceremonies for the fine program; solo, Nelma Jean Powleson; humorous reading, Norma Jean Millet, song, Joan Farnsworth; duet, Shirley Ann and Norma Jean Millet; tribute to Mrs. Burr Wilford Burr; and response by the honored guest. Mrs. Burr was born March 30, 1858, at Manti, and married Henry U. Burr, August 17, 1873. They made their home at Pay- son for two years, then moved to Grass Valley (Burrville), coming com-ing to Orem in 1907. Mr. Burr passed away in May, 1919. Mrs. Burr has 212 living des-cendents, des-cendents, including the following follow-ing living sons and daughters: Henry, Ivan and LeEarl Burr. Mrs. Lillie Park, Mrs. Vera Mecham and Mrs. Effie Millet of Orem; Percy Burr and Mrs. Nellie Bullock of Provo; G. M. Burr, Salina; and Lorenzo Burr of Ephraim. She has 68 grand children, 132 great-grandchil dren and two great-freat-grand children. She has been an active LDS church worker, being especially interested in Relief society work. She is making her home at present with her son, Henry and family. Mrs. Burr especially enjoyed the drive to the resort with her granddaughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Keith (famine Bullock) Fielding, in their new car, won at Provo's Fourth of July celebration. Hebertson stopped to visit with his family, enroute from Carlisle Barracks, Penn., where he has been attending at-tending officers school, to Law-ton, Law-ton, Washington, where he will be stationed. The Jesse Harding family reunion re-union will be held at Arrowhead resort on Sunday. Descendants of the laite Jonathan and Bishop Henry Clegg will meet at Vivian park Saturday, where a full day of activities has been scheduled. Joy O. Clegg is in charge of the program and Fred W. Clegg the sports. Charles Clegg of Park City Is president of the family organization, organiza-tion, Mrs. Millie Moulton of Salt Lake City, vice president; Mrs. Druscilla Jones of Price, secretary; secre-tary; Luke Clegg of Provo, treasurer; treas-urer; and Mrs. Ramona Maw of Salt Lake City, publicity. Boyd Harding, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Harding is home after more than two years in the U. S. Navy. He has been in Japan recently. Mrs. Keith Hebertson left Saturday Sat-urday by plane for Killgore, Texas, where she will visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sumsion of Springfield, Mass., are here to spend the summer. OBITUARIES JOSEPH OLIVER STONE Funeral services will be con ducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Vine yard ward chapel for Joseph Oliver Stone, 69, former Vineyard Vine-yard resident who passed away suddenly at his home, 440 East Fourth South, Salt Lake City, Sunday, of Coronary occlusion. Bishop J. Taylor Allen will con duct the service. The body may be viewed at the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will be in Provo Burial Park. Joseph Oliver Stone was born November 7, 1876 in Salem, Utah county, the son of Joseph Adam and Phoebe Stone. He married Emma C. Larsen, Jan. 18, 1898. As a young man, Mr. Stone worked in the mines at Eureka, in 1902, he moved to Idaho, where he resided until 1908 The family came to Vineyard, where he served as bishop of the Vineyard ward for seven years. He was released to fulfill ful-fill a mission to Great Britain. After returning from his mission mis-sion he entered the real estate business in Provo and Salt Lake. Mr. Stone also served two terms as representative of Utah county coun-ty in the state legislature. He has made his home in Salt Lake City since 1940. Surviving besides his 'widow are two sons, Orvil O. Stone, Lehi, Cloudie M. Stone, Vineyard; Vine-yard; the following brothers and sisters: Nancy J. Stone, Mrs. Effie A. Christensen; Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Patterson and Lyman A. Stone, all of Salem; Robert E. Stone, Springfield, Idaho; Mrs Maggie Jones and Wesley E. Stone, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Phoebe Andrus, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Viola Cord, Salt Lake; Beatrice Stone and Zella Stone, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Lenore Stoker, Lake Shore; Verl D. This number includes 815 killed in action, 90 died of wounds; 6 died of injuries; 402, died (non-battle); (non-battle); 128 finding of death under Public Law 490, 77th Congress; and 9 as missing. The 128 who were declared dead under Public Law 490, are persons who were carried for periods of at least one year in a missing status, and after thorough investigation in each case were declared dead. , Booklets are being prepared and sent to each state, giving' the entire list of names from the particular state. The total throughout the nation comes to 308,978, or 2.98 per cent of the total army.
