Show WedThursFri, February 26-28, 2003 The Park Record C-3 "i 'Twelve Dancing Grimm Brothers' tale to play on stage at The Children's Theatre of Salt Lake The Children Theatre of Salt Lake will present the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale, "The Twelve Dancing Princesses," beginning March 7 and playing through April 19 at the Company's theater located at 638 South State St. in Salt Lake City. The production will play for 16 public performances as well as several sev-eral special performances for elementary-age school children. "The - Twelve Dancing Princesses" is one of the famous Grimm Brothers' tales that has been known under several other names, including "The Dancing Shoes," "The Worn Shoes," and "The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces." The Grimms heard their version of the story from the Haxthausens, a family of friends in 1823 and included includ-ed it in their book of children's stories sto-ries published that same year. The Children's Theatre of Salt Lake's version has been adapted for the stage by Joanne M. Parker, artistic artis-tic director, who has given the story a distinctive French setting and flair. Set design and painting for the production is by Aaron Bushnell, lighting design is by Ben Ballesteros, costume design is by Heather Jones, HDD ' V - .
