Willard D. Smith officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor E. Linde of Blaine, Wash., and the bridegroom' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ira E. Moss of Bing-ham Canyon. A reception honored the newly-wed- s Saturday evening, May 2, in the West Jordan Stakehouse. For her wedding the bride chose a gown of white lace over whit satin. The bodice lenlured a scal-loped and long tapered sleeves. A bandeau of white daisies anJ rhinestones reluased her veil of sheer illusion, finger-ti- p length. She carried a bouquet of white garden-ias and baby pink roses. Bridal attendants were Miss Kar-en Moss and Miss Carol Moss, sis-ters of the bridegroom. They wore blue embroidered street - length dresses complimented by corsages of pink carnations and pink rose-buds. Performing duties of best man Ruth Rebekah Lodge held their I monthly meeting for May at the Civic Center Tuesday evening. Mrs H. R. Gust was hootess. A business meeting was conducted after which .bridge was played. Prizes were won bv Mrs. James McLeod, Mrs. J. L. Murano, Mrs. Mabel Brimhall and Mrs. Joe Jenson. Lovely refresh-ments were served. Tuesday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mr. Glenn Huebner and family were Mrs. Huebner's ' sister, Mis. L. W. Babcock and daughters of Ogden. Fire Auxiliary met Monday ev-ening as guests of Mrs. Verl Peter-son. Prize at cards were won by Mrs. Jack Householder Jr. Mrs. Leonard Bell, Mrs. Wally Swenion and Mrs. Verio Kcndrick. Lovely refreshments were served by th hosteas. 18 members were present. Mrs. Tom Prigmore will be hos-tess next Monday night. Mrs. R. C. Stevenson, president of the Bingham Women' Civic Club, attended the three-da- y Utah Federation of Women' Clubs con-vention last Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Roosevelt. Dinner guests and visitors last Friday evening of Mrs. Mabel Brim-ha- ll were Mrs. Dewey Mayne, Mrs. Mclvin Olsen, Mrs. Fred Bolliger, Mrs. Ruth Hudson and Mr. Arthur Bentley. I wish to express my thanks and appreciation to everyone for kind-nesses extended to me and also the many lovely cards 1 received during my recent stay in the hospital. Mr. Vern Lipsey. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Linde chose a blue net gown while Mrs. Moss, the bridegroom's mo-ther, selected pink net. Both mo-thers wore corsages of white gar-denias and pink rosebuds. Mia Deon Bean of Twin Fall, Idaho, presided over the guest book. In charge of tho gifts were Miss Welda Lendt of Buffalo, N.Y. and Mis Barbara Christisen of East Ely, Nev. Serving were Miss De-lor- Linde and Miss Marjorie Linde. Greeting guests at the door were Jimmy Moss and Dwayne Linde. Reed Mini was master of cere-monies at the program .given at the reception which included two vocal numbers by Merlin Sorensen, a mu-sical reading by Mrs. Joylene Tin-ge-two piano solos by Miss Marian Moss, and two vocal solos by Mr. Areta Head. Dancing followed. The newlyweds plan a wedding trip to Seattle, Wauh., before mak-ing their home somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley. Out of town guests here for the wedding were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor E. Linde and family of Blaine, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Perry of Vernal, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rex and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robinson, all of Woodruff. Martha Circle met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Helen Austin in Salt Lake City. A very lovely one o'clock luncheon wa served fol-lowing which a business meeting was held. Afterwards bridge was played and prizes won by Mrs. Bess Kemp, Mrs. Myrtlo Thomas, Mrs. Margaret DuBois and Mr. Irene Frazier. Other member present were Mrs. Alva Evans, Mrs. Bessie West, Mr. Mary Z.accaria, Mrs. Pearl Hansen, Mrs. Edna Jacobsen, Mrs. Pearl Rasmussen, Mr. Char-lott- e Murano, Mrs. France Roger-so- n and Mrs. Ida Bolman. Next Circle meeting will be held at the home of Mis. Bolman in Copper-tu- n Wednesday, May 20. Mrs. Jolene Rasmussen entertain-ed at a birthday party Sunday af-ternoon, May 3, honoring her dau-ghter, Claudia, on her tenth birth-day. Guests helping Claudia cele-brate the occasion were Shonnie Anderson, Lynn Ann Swenson, Colleen Anderson, Robyn Boren, Sue Dimmick, Cindy Williams, Di-ane Badovinatz, Hilda Ugarte, Kar-en Bianchi and Debbie Fike. Games were played after which refresh-ments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mendez of 407 Main streete, longtime Bingham re-sidents, are leaving sometime this month to make their new home in McAlla, Texas. Mr. Mendez just re-tired. English (AHTNC) Two Bingham Can-yon men recently completed eight week of military police training at The Provost Marshal General' School at Fort Gordon, Ga, Both men received instruction in traffic control, self defense and the basic frocedures of civil and military The men are: Army Pvt. Frank R. English, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hurley N, English, and Army Pvt. Russell V. Abplanalp Russell V. Abplanalp. 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Abplanalp, both of Copperton. English entered the Army last November. A 1954 graduate of Bingham High Scliool, he attended the University of Utah. The Millie Palmer Family Hardy of Kearns last Saturday. The eight member in attendance elect-ed Virginia president of the group. May 1st will be recorded as an important date in the history of West Jordan Junior High School. On that date the building was dedi-cated in a program conducted by the Jordan District School Board. Among the speakers were Bob Jim-as- , vice president of the board of education, and Frank Bowers, own-er of the contract company which built the beautiful school. The 9th arade girls chorus and the school band contributed to the program which was followed by open house and light refreshments. The McAllister family received a letter from their son, David White, saying he had been transferred from San Antonio, Texas, where he grad uated from training, to Montgom-ery, Ala. Before leaving Texas, a dinner party was given in his honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hazel. Mr. and Mrs. L. E.. Barnett of Salt Lake City, formerly of Cop-perto- n, visited briefly with relatives and friends here Sunday. The visit was especially significant since Mr. Barnett has only recently been re-leased from the hospital where he underwent surgery. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Throckmorton Sun-day were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Poulsen and family. A special Mother's Day program has been prepared by Copperton LDS Ward and will be presented at Sunday School, this Sunday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m. Copperton Ward Relief Society will hold its monthly work day next Tuesday, May 12th starting at 10 a.m. Quilting and other handicrafts will be enjoyed by those attending. I iv addition to handwork, there will be a table laden with lovely hand-work which is to be sold. Aprons, pillow slips, dish towels, etc., included in the articles for sale. Ifrom a trip to Nevada and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Louis DeCol and family Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hardman and daughter, Debra, spent Sunday ev-ening visiting with Mrs. Melva Wil-son and family. Mrs. Louis DcCol and daughter, Edith, visited Wednesday with Mrs. Lynn Walker of Granger. Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Hatch left Monday to enjoy a week or so in Phoenix, Ariz., and then if possible, will go on to San Francisco, Calif, to visit friends. Last Friday, May 1st, the Cop-perton First and Second grades with teacher, Mrs. Harley English, and the Third and Fourth grades with teacher, Mrs. Maude Stillman, visited Winder Dairy where a guide taak them on a tour of the buildings and ground. Then they visited Pioneer Village and the Utah State Cr.pitol builcing, After the child-ren toured these place of interest, they went to Liberty Park to eat a picnic lunch. Transportation was on a school bus. All children had a new and interesting experience. A party was held Monday, May 4, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin L. Ray for the Ray family. Guest of honor was Mrs. Alice Quinn, who wa celebrating a birth-day. Others present were Mr. Quinn and Doris Darling of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ray, Mrs. Edward Parker, Mrs. Clyde Oliver and Charles Ray from Midvale and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ray of Cop-perton. An enjoyable time was had by all. Guests of Benny and Virginia McAllister Friday and Saturday were Kelly Walter and Linda Miller of Kearns. r ' Betty Mae Winn wa taken to St. Mark's Hospital Wednesday af-ter collapsing while enjoying a school outing at Lagoon. Doctors are now trying to find what caused her illness. Mrs. Maxine Johnson is a patient at St. Mark's Hospital where she is undergoing therapy treatment. Ben McAllister and children, Virginia and Benny, visited with Mr. McAllister' mother, Mr. Lu-ell- a McAllister of Salt Lake City last Saturday. Copperton and Bingham friends will be happy to know that Mr. and Mrs. Dean T. Malan and family ar-liv-safely at Phoenix, Ariz., Fri-day, May I, according to word re-ceived from Mrs. Malan' mother, Mrs. Elsie Pilkington of Smithfield. Betty Mae Winn was high point contendant at the Teen Road-e-- o held at West Jordan on Saturday, May 2. Contestants were required to drive forward and reverse ob-stacle courses and also take written examinations. Betty Mae is now eligible to compete in state compe-tition at Ogden, Saturday, May 9. She is 16 years old and daughter df Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Winn of Cop-perton. She replaces Athena Floros who gave up writing news because of school and other activities. Entre Nous Club met at the home of Mrs. Hyman Smornoff on Thurs-day evening, April 30. Bridge was played with prizes awarded to Miss Kay Braun, Mrs. H. F. Dowd, Mrs. Axel Sybrowsky, and Mrs. William Ablett. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess. A birthday party wa held for Louis DeCol at his home Wednes-day evening. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Coombs and Mr. and Mrs. Carol Grey of Magna, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Densley of Kearns, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Walker of Gran-ger, Mr. and Mrs. Earl DeCol of Riverton and Mrs. Myrtle DeCol and family, Edith, Maxine and Richard. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Nepolis of Lead Mine returned home last week from a three weeks vacation at Bakersville, Calif., where they vis-ited with Mr. and Mrs. Forshay. Peggy Berg came home Wednes-day and again Friday from Provo to visit with Mr. and Mr. Marvin Throckmorton and son, Maytiard. Jimmy Wilson entertained a group of his friends at his home after the sophomore dance last Fri-day night. O WOMEN'S CIVIC CLUB CLOSING MEETING SET FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 13 Living and experience in Indo-nesia will be the subject of a talk to be given by Mrs. Don Rees of Salt Lake City at the Bingham Wo-men's Civic Club meeting to be held Wednesday, May 13, 7:30 pm. at the Civic Center. Mrs. Ree lived in Indonesia for two year while her husband. Dr. Don Ree of the University of Utah, wa teaching there. Program suggestions for next year will be discussed, according to Mrs. R. C. Stevenson, president of the club. Members are invited to think about their preferences-sl- ips of paper will be passed out at the meeting for suggestion to be written down and turned in. J Far East (FHTNC) - Louis Sarrao, storekeeper third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mr. Cirilo Sarrao of 281 Main Street, Bing-ham Canyon, is serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Lo Angeles, operating a a unit of the Seventh Fleet in the Far Eait. The Lo An-geles, armed with lung range multi-purpose gun batteries and the Re-gul-guided missile, is a compon-ent of Cruiser Division Five, and has Long Beach as her homeport. THE SWANEE SINGERS TO APPEAR HERE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 Copperton Ward is presenting The Swanee Singers under the di-rection of Earl Donelson in concert at the Bingham High School audi-torium on Wednesday, May' 20 at 6:00 p.m. it is announced this week. Tickets are adults $1.00 and stu-dents, 50 cents. Proceed from the program will go for a new organ for the LDS church it is reported. |
