H n h n n m . n mrm Although Park City's history reaches far beyond the relatively recent boom in sports that involve sliding on snow, the area, as well most of Utah, has earned a world-wide reputation for the greatest snow on earth. In Park City, there are three mountain resorts, each offering a distinctly dis-tinctly different outdoor experience. Also listed here is brief information about a few mountain resorts within 60 miles of Park City. Deer Valley Deer Valley Ski Resort is open to alpine and telemark skiers only. Snowboards are prohibited. Convention services & facilities Regular season rates January 2 - April 12, 1998 Full-day (9 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.): adult, $54 child 12 & under, $29 seniors 65, $38. Half-day (12:30 -4:15 p.m.): adult, $38 Child 12 & under, $22 seniors, $25. Group lift tickets are available for parties par-ties of 20 or more and can be purchased from bonafide travel agents through the Deer Valley Resort Group Sales Office at 800-424-DEER, ext. 6510. Multi-day voucher books and consecutive day passes pass-es may be purchased for 2 to 6 days of skiing. Deer Valley sells only 4,500 lift tickets on any given day, and may sell out on weekends and holidays. For information on lift ticket reservations call Deer Valley Central Reservations at 800-424-DEER (3337). Guided Snowcat Tours Deer Valley runs guided Snowcat tours from the Cushings Cabin located at the top of the Northside Express, outside the Snow Park Lodge. Tours take you to future expansion terrain in Empire Canyon. Tours are available Friday -Sunday, conditions permitting, for skiers with at least an intermediate skiing ability. Tickets are available for sale to skiers with a valid Deer Valley lift pass for $5 per person, per-son, per tour. The one-run tour lasts approximately one hour. Tours are available avail-able at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. DV Mountain Host Black Diamond & Intermediate Tours Daily complimentary mountain tours are available beginning at 9:30 a.m. for expertblack diamond skiers and at 10 a.m. for intermediate skiers. Ski Valet and Ski Storage Complimentary curbside ski valets will assist with equipment unloading and loading load-ing upon your arrival and departure at the Snow Park Lodge. Complimentary ski storage facilities are located at the Snow Park Lodge, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.and outside the Silver Lake Lodge, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Self-service lockers are also located in the Snow Park Lodge. Ski School Deer Valley's ski school is located on the bottom level of Snow Park Lodge and is open daily 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The ski school offers instruction for all ages and abilities. The school also features private pri-vate telemark instruction, adult ski programs, pro-grams, women-only ski programs, youth ski programs and children's ski programs. Equipment Rental The Deer Valley Resort Rental Shop is located on the bottom level of Snow Park Lodge and is open daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Advance reservations are recommended recom-mended and may be made by calling 888-SKI-TIPS (754-8477) Child Care The Deer Valley Children's Center is a state-licensed facility providing indoor supervision and activities for non-skiing children. Located on the main level of Snow Park Lodge, the center is open daily, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Advance reservations reserva-tions are recommended throughout the season and can be made by calling 888-SKI-TIPS. Restaurants on the Mountain Deer Valley offers some of the best slope-side dining you'll find in Park City. In the Snow Park Lodge, at the base of Deer Valley Resort, breakfast (8 - 10:30 a.m.) and lunch ( 1 1 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) are served daily featuring the Natural Salad Buffet. Apres ski beverages and hors d'oeuvres are also served daily in Snow Park Lodge from 2:30 - 6 p.m. Monday -Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. Friday -Sunday, and on holidays. Lunch is available avail-able at Silver Lake Lodge, at mid-mountain daily from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Deer Valley Resort also features three distinctively distinc-tively different evening dining experiences: experi-ences: The Seafood Buffet in Snow Park Lodge, 645-6632; The Mariposa, French Burgundian cuisine, 645-6715; and McHenry's, casual continental dining, 645-6724.
