City Beat Recreation surveys sent out CITY EDITOR jay Hamburger 649-90 1 4 ext 1 1 1 Needs of community have to be known before new facilities in Park City are built by Jay Hamburger OF THE RECORD STAFF The Park City Parks, Recreation and Beautification Advisory Board is looking to get the pulse of the city's recreation wants and needs through a survey sur-vey that has been sent out to Parkites. The board, as well as the Park City Leisure Services Department, will be using the results of the survey as it develops devel-ops a recreation master plan that will address the future recreational recre-ational needs of the city. "The thing that provoked all of this was the realization that we are outgrowing the facilities we have," said Parks and Recreation Board Chairman George Hull. "We have to make sure we have the right facilities." Over 6,000 surveys were sent to Park City addresses earlier this week. A letter accompanying the survey requests that the surveys sur-veys be returned by Monday, Jan. 19. Hull said the Parks and Recreation Board has already Please see Other cities, A-6 Police Blotter A counterfeit $10 bill was reported to the Park City Police Department last week On Friday, Jan. 9 at 6:02 p.m. At 10:53 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 the Park City Police Department received a report that a court-ordered patient from an area psychiatric unit had escaped from the unit and gone to Park City. After a tip from the patient's mother, Park City police officers found the 18-year-old male inside a Main Street store and detained him. An ambulance was called to the scene, which transported the person to Salt Lake City. Other incidents reported to the Police Department last weeK included: On Sunday, Jan. 11 at 6:11 p.m. police received a call from a Monitor Drive residence that a person was threatening to commit com-mit suicide. Police officers contacted con-tacted a 27-year-old woman, who said she was not going to commit suicide, but she was depressed after breaking up with her boyfriend. Checks that had been reported report-ed stolen from a parked vehicle in Park City were subsequently reported forged at 1:02 p.m. At 1:19 p.m. a car was reported report-ed to have been "smashed up" while parked on King Road. The person said the crime may have been committed by a former ;hotel employee. A counterfeit $10 bill was reported to police at 12:09 p.m. I A snowmobile was reported 'stolen from a Park City store at 10:30 a.m. a bicycle was reported stolen from a garage on Holiday Ranch Loop Road. At 2:37 p.m. a wallet, $150 in cash and some credit cards were reported stolen from Park City Mountain Resort by an Asheville, N.C., resident. Two pairs of skis with a total value of $2,100 were reported stolen at 2:51 p.m. from Park City Mountain Resort. On Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10:27 p.m. property damage to restrooms at Park City High School was reported. On Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10:43 a.m. three Park City High School students were picked up by police for truancy at a fast-food restaurant and brought back to school. On Tuesday Jan. 6 at 2:36 p.m. a nail gun was reported stolen from a Park City-area construction construc-tion site. On Monday, Jan. 5 a bobcat was reported in the backyard of a Creek Drive residence. When Utah Fish and Game officials arrived, the bobcat ran off. SSftmriH) II nan?
