The brainchild of museum director Marianne Cone, it became the museum's most popular exhibit ever. Shown here admiring the handiwork are Cone and long-time Parkite Jim Santy. On Jan. 1, 1997, Cone retired from the job she has defined for nearly nine years. She will be honored at a luncheon on Feb. 12 at the Kimball Art Center. Obituary Charlie Hays Charles Everett Hays passed away in his home overlooking the ocean on Thursday. Jan. 30, 1997 in Malibu, Calif. Though only 12 years old. Charlie knew more of. and taught more people about, life than many who live an entire lifetime. Charlie was born in Santa Ana. Calif., later moving to Arlington, Texas, and then Park City, where he loved to ski and play baseball, diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer over five years ago. Charlie endured patiently and courageously. Because of Charlie's drive to help other children, he inspired the formation of the Faces of Courage Foundation a foundation founda-tion which helps families with terminally ill children better heal their wounded hearts through video memories. Charlie was responsible for Dr. Ruth Decker's (of St. Louis, Mo.) discovery of a genetic link in medullary thyroid cancer. Lives are now being saved. Charlie is survived by his mother. Susan Addington and father. Jeff Hays; brothers Perry Dodson. Brandon. Michael and Jared Hays; sister Kacey Hays: and best friends Chad Rinderknecht. David Sulsh and Cameron Carr. Also surviving are Ray Frederick. Mark Dodson. Ken Stanton; grandparents, grandpar-ents, Judy and Clayton Hassell (currently serving a mission to the Philippines for the LDS Church), Neil and Shirley Dodson. Curtis and Ann Hays; and great-grandparents. Erna and Everett Murphy. Charlie was laid to rest at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah on Feb. 4. A memorial memo-rial service will be held on Saturday. Feb. 15. at 5 p.m.. at the Michael Landon Community Center Bluffs Park. Malibu. Sanders has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood. Waynesville. Mo. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, read-ing, tactics, military courtesy, military mil-itary justice, first aid and Army history and traditions.
