DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN RENT CELLULAR PHONES?? 7 It's true, there is no need to buy a phone or make a long term commitment just to keep yourself temporarily in contact with the rest of the world Mountain Car Rental, Park City's premier cellular rental company, has portable and transportable phones to rent, short or long term. Are you using an antique phone that is too big and now sells for about a fifth of what you paid for it? This is another reason that renting makes sense. If you have any questions, or want to reserve a phone, please call Dwayne Vatican Etruscan exhibit opens Utah's newest Museum of Art, this one at Brigham Young University, will open Oct. 18 with a world-class exhibit from the Vatican Museum called "The Etruscans: Legacy of a Lost Civilization." When it opens, the 100,000 . square-foot, four-story granite facility will be the one of the largest art museums between Denver and San Francisco. "We want to showcase the potential of this museum to bring in major shows as well as showcase BYU's collection, so we opted to inaugurate the museum with an exhibit I believe will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most of our patrons," says James A. Mason, museum director. The opener highlights the most powerful urban civilization in pre-Roman pre-Roman Italy. The Etruscans are credited with much of the technology later passed on to the Romans. Influence from their Greek neighbors enabled the Etruscans to develop the first written language in Italy as well as some of the first agricultural irrigation systems. They introduced the toga, Roman numerals, the banquet, arches and water systems to Italy. They turned Rome into a city, and says Mason, "Italy owes as much to the Etruscans as the Romans." Various aspects of Etruscan lifestyle highlighted in the exhibit will include households, hunting, religion and burial. Among the items in the collection will be Etruscan armor, jewelry, pottery and tombs. The impressive collection of early Italian . ) V, Vi w. ... -si . . Completion of the museum represents the realization of a major goal for Mason, who for 1 1 years served as dean of the BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications. Mason's enthusiasm for the project is gestures. "BYU has a $30 to $40 million art collection with 14,000 art objects unavailable to the public until the museum opens," he says. "Through the generosity of donors--the source of all our fund-raising-we not only raised the money for the museum, but we are finding the funds to endow it as well." K A Some tips for a safer Halloween The worst dangers on Halloween aren't from witches or spirits, but from falls, flammable costumes, and pedestrian and car incidents. Halloween can be a fun day for the entire family. Consideration for security and safey has led neighborhoods to develop new ways to maintain traditions while making sure that everyone has a good and safe time. To make sure that this Halloween is a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the Utah Safety Council offers these Halloween safety tips: Make or buy costumes that are light and bright enough to be clearly visible to motorists. Costumes and treat bags can be decorated or trimmed with retroreflective tape. Costumes should be made of fire-resistant material. They should also be large enough so that warm clothing can be worn underneath to protect the child from the cold, and short enough to prevent children from tripping and falling. Youngsters should wear well-fitting, sturdy shoes. Mother's high heels and Dad's size 12 are not a good idea for safe walking. Apply a natural mask of cosmetics rather than a loose- fitting mask, which might restrict . w breathing or obscure vision. ' 'Small children should always " be accompanied by an older responsible child or an adult Everyone should use the sidewalk rather than walk in the street Walk, don't run from house to house. Do not dart out from between parked cars or cross lawns and yards where ornaments or furniture present tapping hazards. Trick-or-treaters should go only to homes where residents have outside lights on as a welcome sign. Give youngsters a snack or meal before they go out Tell them that treats must not be eaten until they get home. Inspect all treats. If there is a loose wrapper or broken seal on any commercially produced candy, throw it away. . Those receiving trick-or-. treaters should remove any item that could be an obstacle from steps, lawns and perches. Keep household pets away from the front door. Suggestions for those who do not wish to give candy or food as a treat include: baseball or other sports cards, crayons, pencils, pens, stickers, yo-yos, magic tricks, and coupons from local fast-food shops or ice-cream parlors.
