The loss, the third straight for the Miners, took some of the fun out of Park City's homecoming. The game started well for Park City. Ci-ty. The opening kickoff bounced off the Grantsville return man at the ten-yard line and rolled to the 23, where Bill Olsen recovered for the Miners. On the next play Miner quarterback quarter-back Beau Brinkerhoff (8-20-168 yards) connected with senior split-end split-end David Scheinblum for a 23-yard touchdown pass. Brinkerhoff kicked the extra point, giving the Miners a 7-0 lead. Park City coach Bob Burns thought the early score might have worked against the Miners. "We got complacent," Burns said. An interception gave the Cowboys posession on the Miner 23-yard line. On first down the Miners, playing with only ten men on the field, left Cowboy tight end Seth Parkinson wide open. Parkinson Parkin-son caught a pass from quarterback Justin Kelsel and ran in for an easy touchdown. "We did not have a cor-nerback cor-nerback and that's where the ball was thrown," Coach Burns said. "If your defensive line doesn't react then it's six points." The Miners regained the lead at the end of the second quarter. Brinkerhoff threw five yards downfield to flanker Chuck Sharp, who dodged a tackier and ran 10 yards for a touchdown. The Miners missed the extra point, but led 13-12. Park City would not score again. The Cowboys held the Miners to 21 yards rushing in the game, and shut out Park City in the second half. "Our offensive line did not play well," Coach Burns said. "We couldn't run.. .We had to throw." Allred's field goal gave Grantsville Grant-sville the lead with 1:01 remaining. "Grantsville made the drive when it counted," Coach Burns said. The Miners play at Morgan at 7 : 30 p.m. next Friday. "Our game plan should be much less conservative," Coach Burns said. "We want to make sure our kids enjoy the game as much as possible, because we really have nothing to lose." Fall Coed Softball Results Monday, Sept. 25 Mrs. Fields 16, Park City Pizza 15.
