The Park City girls went home from the 1986 state championships with six points. Miners to keep your eyes on this coming weekend include: Senior Ron Matthews has shown he's got the equipment to dominate in the hurdles. Watch for him in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdle events. His brother, Russ, is Park City's best chance in the long jump. In the 100 meter dash, watch for the speed put out by junior Scott Car-tier. Car-tier. Aside from being a strong force on the Miner 400 and 1600 meter relay events, he is also known to throw the discus well on occasion. Senior Bruce Buckner also contributes con-tributes to action in the men's 1600 and 400 meter relay events. The Miner halfback has also made a name for himself in the 400 meter dash as well as the discus. In the 1400 meter event Brett Hanscom has been pulling ahead of the Miner contingency with teammates team-mates Mike Eichner, George Toelke and Mark Stewart in hot pursuit. Watch for Toelke to finish the 3200 meter run ahead of the pack with possibly Ari Colt on his tail. Clint Weaver has been leading the Miners in the shot put with Brett Bensen gathering Park City points in the javelin. Eric Long, Darren Bean and Scott Cartier have been the main forces driving the Miners through the 200 meter run. Although the Minei3 need some work in the pole vault, Ian Adams shows the most promise along with Russ Matthews and Brandon Vierig. Tracy Montgomery looks promising promis-ing in both the girls long jump and high jump as well as the 100 meter hurdles. Look for Jody Wimmer to possibly catch her in the hurdles, however. Holly Elkins has been leading the Lady Miners in the category of speed and will most likely continue her dominance through the end of the season. She currently leads the Lady Miners in the 100 meter dash and is the anchor in the 1600 meter relay. The Hannay sisters have been dominating action in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and relays. Coming back from a strong season competing com-peting on the cross-country team, Heidi. Kathy and Cheryl should be strong contenders on Saturday. In girls hurdles, Karin Tatum is holding her own behind Wimmer and Montgomery and should improve by season's end. Holly Hunter, Abbey Peterson and Kathy Hannay are looking strong in the distance races. Watch for Teresa Rinehart throwing throw-ing the discus, javelin and shot put for the Lady Miners. -mm bmnmA4 Ron Matthews is a strong contender in the hurdles.
