Calif., has been hired to begin working for the city Oct. 1. The city has had a vacancy in the planning department since Dave Boesch left in June. The city is still in the process of looking for a new planning director. According to city personnel director, Bob Stephens. Ms. Mclntyre has most recently served as a planning consultant and project planner for Turrini and Brink in Santa Ana, Calif. Mayor takes the plate Mayor Hal Taylor was presented with a plate depicting the local government govern-ment in Slagelse, Denmark, at last week's public meeting. The plate was a gift from Malene Lausen who is currently a foreign exchange student at Park City High School and is living with the O'Hara family of Park City. The Mayor promised pro-mised to display the plate from Marlene's hometown in a place of pro-minance. City Attorney opening is attracting a big field The city has received more than 50 applications for the position of city attorney at-torney according to Bob Stephens, personnel director. Notification of the position posi-tion was made public in the Utah Bar Letter which was published at the end of August. Stephens said that although no specfic cutoff date had been stated in the notice, the city would most likely receive applications until Oct. 1., and a selection is expected by council by Nov.l. The job of city attorney has been filled, since July, by acting city attorney Craig Smith. Smith took over that job when former city attorney Tom Clyde resigned. Amusement session cancelled Those who find attending a work session of city council the most entertaining entertain-ing way to spend a Thursday afternoon, will be disappointed to learn there will be no work session this week. Council will instead convene at 7:00 p.m. to work with the planning commission on areas on mutual interest. Appointments finalized At Thursday's public meeting the city council confirmed its appointments to two separate community city committees. Those who will serve as the group to examine the city's transportation system and how it stacks up to other similar bus systems are; Bob Wells, Jack Dinger. Wayne Mathews, John Miiller, and Norman Weiss. Those who will serve to look at the city's wage and benefit package and how it stacks up against the general business community are; Dean Berrett, Bob Stephens, Ron Ivie, Jim Whitteron, and Mollie Laramie. City approves Chamber lease The city council voted last week to extend its lease with the Park City ChamberBureau . The Chamber has leased the basement level of the old library building adjacent to the old city hall on Main Street since last May. City Manager Arlene Loble told the council the same space had been looked at recently by the State Liquor Commission for a Main Street full service store. Council agreed to continue the lease with the group thorugh the winter and to pay for the additional snow removal which would be required by hand to manitain the stairs leading into the space. The Chamber leases the space from the city for $600 a month. After weeks of consideration, Summit Sum-mit County Commissioners selected Bob Fabrizio to fill the vacancy on the county planning board. Commissioners Commis-sioners Stan Leavitt and Tom Flinders were in favor of the appointment ap-pointment and Commissioner Cliff Blonquist was not saying he favord-ed favord-ed someone who not associated with the building or real estate community- "Rob's a good neutral guy he's been around. He has had some building experience and he has a real desire to serve," said Flinders. The commissioners could not agree on a candidate to fill the Park City vacancy on the county planning commission at their meeting last week and had tabled the decision. Board members had been criticized criticiz-ed earlier for inviting Marilyn Roberts of Parkwest to apply after the deadline had passed for all other contenders. Although Commissioner Commis-sioner Stan Leavitt continued to support sup-port Roberts at the Sept. 17 board meeting, his motion to appoint her died without a second from either Commissioner Flinders or Blonquist, Blon-quist, each indicating concern with the procedure used to recruit Roberts as the reason. Commissioner Cliff Blonquist nominated Janice Perry of Park City Ci-ty because he "liked the way she came across" at the interview, and because "she had no interest other than to serve" the county. Neither Leavitt nor Flinders supported Blonquist Blon-quist 's nomination. Flinders tried his choices of Bob Fabrizio and Maryeileen Keller, both of Park City, on his fellow board members. Neither received a second vote. A frustrated Flinders suggested "throwing out these resumes and starting over," but the board refused this motion as well. I iid UU I p o.
