Show q1UGUST7&S19 Performing Arts 1982 Park City Art Festival MIN. BAND TYPE OF MUSIC TIME TREASURE MOUNTAIN STAGE SATURDAY early afternoon listening pleasure. The T. M. Stage is now playing host to the modern bluegrass sound of the Smith Bros. Dirt Band. That is actually a misnomer in that Randy has been the only Smith in the band for a few years now. But the Dirt part is fairly accurate as these boys do perform some rather funky music for a bluegrass outfit. ...Slow fade to the Courtyard. Why it's Andy Monaco, who's been picking and singing with exuberance on stage and street for lo these many Art Festivals. Andy's one of those "small in size but big otherwise" guys who really gets a crowd behind him. The Ed Pratt Band winds up the musical festivities for Saturday at the Treasure Mountain Stage. Pratt is a renaissance man in that he not only has played the Roxy and the Golden Bear, opened for Tim Weisberg, Bob James, Jean Luc Ponty, The Dirt Band, Three Dog Night, Firefall, the Beach Boys, is an audio engineer and a talented record producer, but he can also be found running run-ning the mixer board for other musicians at local watering holes. His biggest gig to date, of course, was the wedding reception of Carl and Cheryl Jackson. At the same time Ed is crooning up-street, up-street, the Wasatch Rascals are putting a lid on things down at the Art Center. 10:00 (60) Wolking-Rovner Sextet Jazz 11:30 (45) Salt Lake Good Time Band Dixieland 12:45 (45) Fertile Dirt Band Bluegrass 2:00 (60) Jordan River Uptown Band Pre-S wing Jazz 3:30 (60) Smith Bros. They could get Orrin Hatch on a dance floor with Angela Davis. The Rascals show is highly spirited and, in the main, from the "old timey" tradition of string band music. A great way to end this first day of the 13th Park City Art Festival. SUNDAY GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!! (oh, excuse me) good morning everyone. And how did a Park City Saturday night treat you? Well, pull yourselves together. You might try a Bloody Mary or a double Postum, because we still have a collective sixteen hours of live music to go. The Festival organizers have taken it easy on us this morning. There won't be anything loud for a couple of hours yet. At the T. M. stage it's the dance tunes, songs, and ballads of the Sagebrush Cotillion, whose musical influences reflect everything from Europe to the American West. The Courtyard's 10:00 a.m. eye-opener eye-opener is accoustic folk guitarist Chris Proctor. Chris is an excellent instrumentalist instrumen-talist and composer who utilizes blues, ragtime, Irish, and folk with classical and jazz overtones to showcase a very accomplished ac-complished picking style. Next up down-street is the stimulating classical guitar duo of Milton Jensen and Continued on page 29. AND THE HOT BAND SYMPHONY HALL 8:00 P.M.
