Show AUGUST7&S 13 City and a Park City resident for four years, does hand spinning, dying and weaving, and will be selling her Indian weavings, tapestries and baskets this weekend. A partner in Carder's, a retail shop on Main Street, Myers is the PCAA representative on the Art Festival board and is president of the Kimball Art Guild. Gary Compagna, who works in ceramics, is a graduate of the University of Colorado school of fine arts, is a native of New Hampshire and has lived in Park City, off an on, the last eight years. His studio is in the Kimball Art Center where he also teaches ceramics. Holly Rom works both in the fiber arts and in water color painting. Her booth will include pillows for contemporary contem-porary interiors done with hand-painted dyes as well as batik, and handpainted tee shirts in ladies' and childrens' sizes. Her water colors range from abstract to stylized realism. Originally from Long Island, N.Y., Rom has lived in Utah for five years and has been an exhibitor in the Park City festival the last four years. Roger Fuller, a resident of Park City for two years, is a jeweler working in gold, silver and lapidary. A native of Utah, he also maintains a studio at the Kimball Art Center and teaches there. Dean Hovey, originally from central California, majored in ceramic sculpture at the University of Utah. A Park City resident for one year, his pen and ink drawings on mylar will be shown at the festival for the first time this year. Kathy Cartier is the creator of handmade hand-made quilts and comforters, which are available year-round at her Main Street shop, Cartier's, which she operates with Linda Myers. She has been making quilts for 12 years and estimates she has completed com-pleted some 2,000. Originally from Laguna Beach, Calif., she participated widely in art festivals in that area and moved to Park City five years ago. She I f H r'r? ; ,1 - ., . Linda Myers, Holly Rom, Gary Compagna, Dean Hovey, Nancy Caravan, Roger Fuller and Kathy Cartier are among the 16 artists who will be represented. will be showing both quilts and handmade hand-made pillows at the festival. Nancy Caravan, a festival exhibitor since 1973, will join the PCAA artists this year with her pen and ink and water color drawings done in an illustrative fantasy style. She grew up in Carmel, Calif., moved to Utah 11 years ago and currently lives on a ranch in Daniels. Stan Johnson works in gold, jewelry and gem stones in a variety of techniques to produce earrings, pend-ints, pend-ints, bracelets and rings. His jewelry has Continued on page 30. Join us for the Utah Opera Guild's Fourth Equestrian Elegance PCAA show at KAC This year, for the first time, the Kimball Art Center has honored local artists in the community by granting them an exhibit in the main gallery during the Art Festival. The group exhibition opened August 1 and continues con-tinues through August 25. Any artist residing in Summit, Wasatch or Morgan County was eligible to submit work and the response was excellent. The show was juried by the officers of the Park City Artists Association who were delighted with the caliber of the work submitted. A requirement for entries en-tries stated that the work submitted must not have been previously exhibited at the Kimball Art Center so although there are familiar names among those accepted, all of the work on display is new. Artists whose work is represented in the main gallery include: Trisha Arentz, Diane Balaban, Nan Chalat, Marilyn Caravaglia, Nancy Caravan, Kathy Cartier, Gary Compagna, Joanie Chesnutt, Dick Doty, David Fernandez, Lynn Green, Dean Hovey, Bill Kranstover, Ginny Pinder, Linda Myers, Alice Marden, Patrick McDowell, Pete Park, Holly Rom, Doti Reynolds, Roy Renolds, Sally Rosenblatt, Judy Summer, John Sundberg, Judy Taylor, Julia Turk, Kim Whitesides, Ab-bie Ab-bie Whitney, and Valeria Yost. The Kimball Art Center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free and visitors to the Art Festival are encouraged to stop by to see the Park City Artists Show.
