Show A tasteful blend of old and new If you were to choose one word to describe the interior design of the units in the Park Hotel, it would be eclectic. That is, a selection selec-tion of the best furnishings from a variety of sources that are combined com-bined to give a look of elegance and a feel of comfort. Because Park City itself is a mixture of past and present, owners own-ers and developers Cindi and Bob Johnston felt it important to preserve pre-serve that character in the Park Hotel Condominiums. Each unit will contain antique furniture and Victorian accents to recall the days when silver barons were more plentiful than skiers in Park City. But the past will make way for the present in the condominiums, con-dominiums, with the addition of modern conveniences and contemporary con-temporary furnishings to make your stay comfortable. The Johnstons have an eye for fine furniture. They've been collecting col-lecting antiques since 1975, and some of the more beautiful pieces that they've found and refinished will be used in each of the Park Hotel's 18 living units. Fully furnished Like your own home, each of the units will be as unique as the funishings in it. Each condominium con-dominium features a full kitchen complete with dishes, silverware Mrlniirilf'" 7t r ) f tt7""""" Each unit is designed to give and pots and pans; a living room with a hideaway bed that sleeps two; a dining room adjacent to the living room; a centrally located bathroom that features a convenient conven-ient dressing area for guests on the hideaway bed; and a master bedroom. The Johnstons will provide the antique furniture and the direction, direc-tion, and Diane Lindquist Interiors Inter-iors of Salt Lake City will provide the expertise in putting together an elegant design that works. With a keen eye for detail, Ms. Lindquist will skillfully blend the old with the new. Decorative molding panels on the walls will be reminiscent of the Victorian era, as will brass beds and patterned pat-terned wool carpeting on the hardwood floors. Each unit will contain at least one original piece of antique furniture collected by the Johnstons; perhaps it will be an oak hutch in the living room, or a bureau or dresser with an etched glass mirror for the bedroom, bed-room, or an old-fashioned floor or table lamp. According to Cindi Johnston, the colors that will be used and the textures-such as wool carpets, car-pets, a quilted comforter or Victorian Victo-rian bedspread-will give the units warmth and charm. "We'd like people to come into their unit and relax and feel com a look of elegance and a feel of fortable," said Mrs. Johnston. "And when a person's eye goes through the unit, we want them to be able to see the detail-that the mirrors, the lamps, the carpets car-pets or the beds are unusual. We want them to be able to look around and appreciate the quality of some of the fine things from the past that mix well with things from the present." Designed for vacationers Another unique feature of the Park Hotel is that it is Park City's first hotel specifically designed for timeshare. The space is planned for vacationers, with small areas of useful storage space, and such space savers as a ski locker on the garden level of the hotel. Outside your door you'll find a cozy parlor designed in the intimate inti-mate style of the Victorian age. Two conversation areas will be warmed by a fireplace, creating a cozy atmosphere where you can entertain friends, meet other hotel guests, or discuss business with associates. The parlors are centrally located on each floor, eliminating the need for a large, noisy lobby on the ground floor. All of the comforts of home have been included in the units, comfort plus all of the touches of a bygone era.
