Play oftball If you want to play in one of Park City's Softball leagues this summer, now's the time to make your pitch. A meeting was held April 29 to spell out some of the guidelines set by the Recreation Department governing scheduling, rosters and entry fees. Among the revelations are these: League play is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 7. There will be a maximum of eight women's teams and 12 men's teams. Teams will meet twice during the regular season. There will be three women's games on Sundays (at the high school west field) and three during the week (at City Park), assuming that the league is composed of eight teams. There will be six men's games on Sunday (at City Park) and six during the week (at either City Park or the high school), assuming the league is composed of 12 teams. Soccer High Rollers spend a peaceful Saturday . For the first time in three weeks, the Park City High Rollers weren't involved in any controversy last Saturday. Satur-day. There were no fights. There were no arguments with the referee. No one got thrown out of the game. Oh, yes. There was no score either. The High Rollers didn't play. Saturday's scheduled game with league-leading Apollo had to be postponed after half of the visiting team went to City Park instead in-stead of the high school. According to High Roller Captain Garry Moore, the Apollo game will be rescheduled for a weekday, with time and date yet to be determined. Also on the schedule for some future date are the last 20 minutes of the Ogden game. High Roller fans will recall that that game was suspended April 18 after Mike Sullivan was assaulted by an angry Ogden player. Moore said that the suspended game will be resumed at a neutral site, probably in Salt Lake City. Iracfc Money? Who needs it Bet ya didn't know that Park City High School has a track team. : Well, it's the makings of a team, anyway. "We're doing the best we can with what we've got," Coach Bob Burns said Monday. Mon-day. : What they've got isn't much. There is no salary for the coach. The school doesn't even have a track. And there is no budget for equipment. The shot used by the team is on loan from John Newland. ; Nevertheless, the school sent 12 representatives to Wasatch High School last week to complete in a meet with South Summit and the host school. : "This is the first time that the kids have been on a lined track, or long jumped, or to begin June 7 The women's weekday games will be held on Mondays Mon-days and Tuesdays. The men's weekday games will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays Wed-nesdays and Thursdays. The entry fee for the women is $65 per team plus $3.75 per player. The entry fee for the men is $198 per team plus $4.50 per player. Entry fees cover the cost of umpires (one per women's game, two per men's game) and insurance. in-surance. Men's insurance fees are higher because they play more games. Entry fees are due no later than 5 p.m. Friday, May 22. Only the first 12 men's teams and eight women's teams will be accepted. ac-cepted. Rosters are due Friday, May 29. Rosters must include in-clude each player's address. There is no limit to the number num-ber of individuals who can be listed on a roster. Teams may be required to have at least 60 percent of their players reside in Park City. The score will stand at 2-1 for Ogden, with Sullivan taking a penalty kick. The disputed Berlin game, played in Park City April 25, will go down for the High Rollers as a 5-2 loss. However, Moore indicated that the three red cards given out during that game may be nullified. A red card is given to a player who commits two serious infractions in one game. The offending player is kicked off the field, and the offending team is given two penalty points. If a team receives 15 points in a season, it forfeits the rest of its games. "Two weeks ago we had zero. Now we have 11. But it's a good possibility that six of those points are going to be taken off," Moore said. The High Rollers' record, pending the outcome of the Ogden game, now stands at 3-4 3. This Saturday, May 9, the High Rollers will host Provo at 3:30 p.m. on the high school field. Last fall, the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie. anything," Burns pointed out. No school records were set, but the Miners did come up with some respectable individual in-dividual performances. Darrin Lawless placed third in the shot, Roger Burns was third in the 400-meter run, and Park City also took third (out of four) in the 4 X 100 meter relay. The relay team was composed of Doug Vincent, Vin-cent, Steve Toly, Tom Flinders Flin-ders and Shawn Packard. With one meet's worth of experience behind them, the Miners will travel to Coalville Friday to compete in the Region 11 track meet. Also expected to compete are Dugway.
