Clean-up for Park Meadows and Thaynes and Prospector Park area, the week of May 11 -15. ( 15th Street North) . On May 8th, the schools are going to participate, by picking up the areas also. The Elementary school clean-up will be 7th Street and south. The Middle School clean-up area will be 7th Street and north to 15th Street. The high school will cover the Park Meadows, Prospector Park and Thaynes Canyon area. The city will have its trucks available to pick up trash during this two-week period, so please help the city to make Park City clean, by setting your items in the usual trash pick up place. , Free TM lecture There will be a free introductory lecture on the causes and cures of stress through the Transcendental Meditation technique. The public is invited to the Memorial Building lounge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. The lecturer is instructor in-structor Calvin Osborn. He will be discussing the potential achievements that can be obtained in the individual; his home, education and business life. KPCW health program meeting KPCW will be sponsoring a meeting for health and social service professionals in Summit and Wasatch Counties regarding the weekly radio programs. The purpose of this meeting will be to plan upcoming programs. Everyone is welcomed to attend. If you're unable to make this meeting, please send suggestions. The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. The location will be at the Park City Community Clinic, 1515 Park Ave (in the basement). Please register according to the following schedule: If the child's last name begins with the letters A-L - 9 : 00 - 11:00a.m. If the child's last name begins with the letters M - Z -12 :00 -2:30 p.m. Please stop by the Elementary School or at the District Of- Entertainers at middle school The Park City Lolli-Pop Kids are sponsoring Small World Entertainers from Salt Lake City. At Carl Winters Middle School, May 8, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 per family, or $1 per adult or 50 cents per child. Tickets can be bought at the door or from Lolli-Pop kids. Women's soccer team Who says Park City doesn't have the strength to build a women's soccer team? Well, times are a changin' folks, and we've got the enthusiasm to start one. All interested ladies who really want to get in shape for summer ( even if you don't know anything about the game) contact the Recreation Department at 649-9461 or Stacey at 649-7015. " Buildings must have addresses In order to provide more effective, timely services to the people of Park City, in accordance with the 1981 fire code, all residents and commerical building owners should have numbers num-bers or addresses placed on all new and existing buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. Said numbers shall contrast con-trast with their background. If this is not done to all homes and businesses in Park City, the Water Department will put the numbering on buildings and charge $10 per building. This need to be completed before June 1. The community's participation par-ticipation and cooperation in this endeavor will be greatly appreciated. Historical Society meeting Park City Historical Society board meeting Friday, May 8, 8:30 a.m. at the Carbide Lamp. General meeting will be held at noon in the dungeon. The Historical Society is actively involved in-volved in numerous community events and is eager to involve in-volve you. Learn about Park City's past while volunteering in the future. Drug abuse radio show The Prevention Center is doing a radio program on drug abuse on Sunday, May 10 at 5 p.m. The speakers will be Teresa Nelson and Robert Pingree of the Prevention Center, and a representative from the Park City Police Department. Christian Science lecture The Second Church of Christ, Scientist in Salt Lake City will be sponsoring a lecture by Betty Carson Fields, C.S. of Atlanta, Atlan-ta, Georgia on "Christian Science'; What it is and isn't" Monday, May 11 at 8 p.m. at 1165 Foothill Drive. On Sunday, May 17, the Recreation Department Depart-ment will sponsor a trip to Lagoon. A special group rate of $5.50 pays for an all day pass 35 rides and also includes a bus ride to and from the amusement park. On May 1st through the 16th boys and girls may register at the Memorial Building Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. -10 p.m. Registration will also take place at Parley's Park or Park City High School Soccer field on May 9th or May 16th during the soccer games. The fee is $12 and ages 7 -12 years old may participate. We are looking for volunteers for the league, so call 649-9461 for further information, in-formation, and sign up now! Tentative plans are for the league games to start June 2nd and end by July 11th. We are hoping for two leagues. One for boys and girls ages 7, 8 and 9 years old; and one for boys and girls ages 10, 11 and 12. We need help from parents or interested adults in the following areas: coaches, assistant coaches, umpires and scorekeepers. Historic Commission heeds members The Park City Historic District Commission is looking for qualified people interested in preserving our Historic District. Qualifications are one or more of the following: 1. Licensed architect or member of the American Society of Interior In-terior Design, with demonstrated experience in historic preservation. 2. A member recommended by one of the following groups, a) Park City Historical Society, b) Utah State Historical Society, c) Utah Heritage Foundation. 3. A member living in the Historic District with demonstrated interest in-terest and knowledge of historic preservation. 4. A member from the Park City Planning Commission.. 5. Here's to good cooking. New numbers for animal control help Summit County Animal Control is available to respond to all complaints regarding animal laws and ordinances. All emergency calls (dogs attacking persons or livestock, and injured in-jured animals) are now handled by an answering service at 974-3309. This is a seven days a week, 24 hours a day number.
