Wildland Fire Report Summit County By Bruce Schmidt County Fire Warden We're still a hot spot. There were three grass fires along the railroad right-of-way in Echo Canyon, and one more small lightning fire in Chalk Creek Canyon by Blue Lake last week. The Still A Hot Spot grass fires burned about five acres. There has been some burning without permits taking place. A burning permit is required before any fire for any reason can be started in wildland areas during closed fire season. Incorporated towns usually have regulations on burning also. Please check with proper officials before burning bur-ning and take all proper precautions when using fire. Conditions may not be right for burning and the possibility of a fire becoming hazardous and out of control con-trol is very high during closed fire season.
