Top juniors ranging in age from 14 to 18 will come from all over the country coun-try for this camp. The camp consists of six hours of clinics, films, conditioning, strategy, ball machine drills, and competitive play per day. The campers arrive Sunday afternoon and leave Friday evening. David Erwin, the Racquet Club's new assistant head pro, will be teaming up with Manager Pro Dan Bigg to give club members professional level tennis lessons. The 23-year-old instructor in-structor first learned tennis three and a half years ago in his native Seattle. But it was his recent five month training stint at the Vic Braden Tennis College in Orange County California Califor-nia that shaped David into a talented instructor. instruc-tor. Dave's personal philosophy on tennis incorporates in-corporates a number of techniques. "Some instructors concentrate on footwork, some on strokes and others on mental aspects of the game, but to me tennis is a combination of all these things," says Dave. Dave will draw upon his varied tennis experience ex-perience to help club members of all ages and skill levels to improve their game. The child will learn basic scoring, terminology, and beginning strokes. Team games and motor skill drills are used extensively to develop coordination which enables the child to master basic strokes. Limit 6 per class Junior Futures 3 Weeks Instruction 5 Weeks Team Play Ages 12-14 Start June 4-Ends August 10 Junior Futures-Junior Futures is the second tier of the junior program. The emphasis is on stroke production, intermediate scoring tie breakers etc, beginnning strategy, court etiquette, and sportsmanship. At this level the child masters the skills necessary to play full court tennis. Junior Development 3 Weeks Instruction Ages 12-14 5 Weeks Team Play Start June 4-Ends August 10 Junior Development Junior development is the third level of the junior program. Court strategy and serve and volley tennis are introduced. A competitive attitude is developed along with the introduction of beginning tournament tennis. This program prepares the student for the high school team. 1-12 Hrs. Advanced strategy, drills and conditioning enable the player to excell in high school team matches and tournaments. In this program, you will find the top high school players, the citv chamninn and possbly the state champion. The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) has endorsed and approved this program which includes instruction, play, strategy, testing and conditioning.
