"The actual size of the wilderness area," Utah's senior senator said in prepared remarks, "will not be as important as the precise definition of wilderness. wilder-ness. I am of the opinion that most of Utah's pristine areas would remain unspoiled un-spoiled without formal designation, but I recognize the commitment some have to the word 'wilderness.'" The Utah Republican has said he will introduce a wilderness bill later this year which reflects Utahns' concerns for balancing necessary usage with environmental en-vironmental considerations. nv XA i i ll r unseh's winnings set a record in 1970. he took IN $494,000. pHE BLACK- HAIRED super driver from Albuquerque, n.m. In his address to the RV leaders, he outlined several "ideas" which he will consider con-sider in drafting the legislation. Discussing the need for provision to preserve "existing and essential uses," Garn said, "existing roads must remain available to off-road vehicles," and some sanitary facilities should be maintained. Motors should not be banned ban-ned from all rivers which happen to flow through wilderness areas, Garn said. "The National Park Service surveyed those who had taken raft trips through the Grand Canyon, and found that over 90 percent felt they had had a wilderness wilder-ness experience. "Yet almost all of them had gone down on motorized rafts," he said. "Clearly the people do not think motors are incompatible with wilderness." Garn said that in drafting a wilderness bill, he will also consider the possibility of allowing exploration for mineral and energy resources resour-ces through the use of temporary tem-porary easements. "Opinion polls clearly indicate the vast majority of Americans think that exploration for oil and gas is quite consistent with wilderness," he said. "As long as it is done carefully, even production will not destroy wilderness." 8V Equipment $c (Elotifing 40 to 60 Off IBCSS00bvCtU6 Open Daily 9 am-7 pm 1240 PARK AVENUE PARK CITY, UTAH 84060 PHONE 801-649-9123 James F.
