Ryan's Hope outslugged the Rusty Nail Monday evening to remain in first place in the ladies' slowpitch league while the Alamo suffered an upset loss that knocked them from the top spot in Division II of the men's league. Ryan's Wins With first place at stake in their contest with the tough Rusty Nail squad, Ryan's Hope jumped to an early lead, fell behind and then rallied to gain a 17-il-' victory. vic-tory. Set down in order in the top of the first, Ryan's committed commit-ted two trhowing errors in the bottom of the inning to give the Nail a 1-0 lead. The league leaders tied the score in the second on a bases-loaded wild throw to first base and then held their opponents scoreless. Ryan's added four more runs in the third. Singles by Linda Schirm, Janet Peretti, f I Vaul DaVm Uhe Qazeho u uesdaii -Saturday or by appointment Sharon Auger, Tina Moench and Ann Stucker produced three scores and Moench scored on a ground out to the pitcher. . The Nail picked one run in their half of the inning. Ryan's put another two runs on the scoreboard in the fourth on an r.b.i. single by Gail Fendrich and a bases-loaded bases-loaded walk given up by Nail pitcher Sarah Peterson. The Nail came back vlh ttfitroe to make the score 5. Liz Vandercook reached first fir-st on an error by second baseperson Digger and Cathy Fish singled to put ladies on first and second. Miki Goulette then singled to fill the bases and Bonnie Couldntfindername followed with a hit, driving in one run while another crossed the plate on a throwing error. Another single by Anita Storey drove in the Nail's third run of the inning. I V,.. ' ft 1 ? A Susie Moench homerun in the top of the fifth made it 8-5 but the Rusty Nail hammered ham-mered away for five runs in their half to take a 10-8 lead. An error followed by a Vandercook single put ladies on first and second. Fendrich Fen-drich caught a fly to right but the relay throw to third went into the crowd and a run scored. Two errors by first baseman Jenny Pinder yielded another run then Goulette blasted Uie' bair ' over Auger's head for a three-run roundt ripper. Ryan's ignited an explosion ex-plosion of their own in the sixth, combining timely hits with a gracious gift of bases on balls, to regain the lead 15-10. A Peretti walk was followed by Pinder's infield hit and a walk to Auger which loaded the bases. Tina Moench lined a single off the pitchers glove for the in- 1 ning's first run and Pinder then took home on catcher Goulette's error, barely sliding under the tag, to tie the score at 10-10. Shortstop Stucker singled to left, scoring Auger, and an infield error allowed both Moench and Stucker to score. A Kay Sandusky single to left drove in another run. Digger and pitcher pit-cher Susie Williams both drew walks and Ryan's final run of the inning came when Sandusky scored from third on a force play at the same base. The Nail was unproductive in the sixth and Ryan's added ad-ded two more in the top of the seventh on an error by the Rusty Nail rover. A walk to vandercook, a single by Rachael Musica and walks to Goulette and Couldntfindername produced pro-duced the final score of the game, giving Ryan's a 17-11 win and sole possession of first place.
