Show Wednesday, October 12, 1977 THE Page 9 Redevelopment Plan Presented MAC'S DON UTS- .. . - t t 4 t fr X Continued From the redevelopment projects increase the tax base. Decker stated that consolidation of the tax increases would enable the community com-munity to make each dollar equal to two dollars due to the agency's ability to obtain ob-tain matching funds. "If we want any of our federal tax money back we're going to have to go out and fight for it," the treasurer said. Saying it would be "crazy to argue against the plan," Councilman Jack Green noted, "The one prerequisite will be to sell the plan to the other taxing entities." en-tities." Green said he foresaw problems in convincing the school district to relinquish some of their tax dollars. Citing various capital improvement projects contemplated by the school district, including a new elementary school and more work at the new high school, Green, who is also a member of the school board, asked, "How are we going to sell it to them when they're in dire need of funds themselves?" Decker replied that the redevelopment agency could undertake projects which would save money for the school district. It was noted that the city's fastest growing area. Holiday Ranch and Park Meadows, is not within the Park City School District boundaries and would not be included in the redevelopment district. If the school district lines could be reorganised to include this area the school district would realize a dramatic increase in tax revenues. Realtor : Coleman said the redevelopment plan could be the catalyst which "forces the issue now" for realignment of the school boundaries. Councilman Jan wilking added that the creation of often-mentioned "Park County" Coun-ty" would automatically bring all Park City land into the school district. A meeting between the school board and city officials will be scheduled in an attempt to resolve the redevelopment conflicts. The old bridge was : built to accommodate the large spring run-offs and the overflow of the Weber River. It is located approximately one-half mile southeast of Oakley. It will be replaced with a new road structure that does not look like a bridge, but functions as one. The new structure is constructed con-structed with four 48-inch pipe culverts. The large pipes are placed under the roadway and a cement wall is built around the ends of the pipes. If the Weber River does overflow the water will hit the cement wall and be forced down the pipes. Bids for the contract were opened today and drew an apparent low bid of $40,225 from J. M. Sumsion & Sons of Spanish Fork. UDOT engineers estimated the cost of the project at $43,381. J. W. Pritchard, UDOT Preconstruction Engineer, said the new structure will "generally carry no water under it." But when the Weber River does overflow the structure will be able to handle the water. 28 T $25.00 NOW! ARE STILL AVAILABLE days a week, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Ticket Building CALL 649-8111, ext. 211212.
