Show V 88THE!fS Wednesday, January 5, 1977 Page 6 Racquet Club Revisited! The Park City Racquet Club Because last week's update on the contructional progress of the Park City Racquet Club was more or less snowed out by poor proofs or a too light ink roller at the printer's, we editorially decided that, in all fairness to ourselves, our public and our Racquet Club, we should run a revamped, post-storm edition of that update. The six outdoor , members-only members-only tennis courts of Park City Racquet Club's Phase One construction have long been completed. But, since the lows, and often of-ten times the highs these dead of winter days are as frozen aS next week's vegetables, and since Mother and Shelley Thomas have finally granted us a few feet of storm to at least trod, we hope ski through, those outdoor courts-as far as volleying goes-really don't concern us. Those indoors do. And the Monday before last they began puring the final coats of the Laykold 300 surfaces (the same faces you'll find when theeMrtin the cold tha for -the"Trbur first pfiase "Tndoo'r " tennis courts. In order to perfect per-fect the surface, three days are spent on each, then they should sit and really gel for at least 96 hours. So, theoretically, tennis without layers and layers of wool and down should be able to be played within the week. But no, not until January 22nd will you be able to reach set or match point, or, for that matter, even love-fifteen, roofed and heated-that is, unless you can play in pitch-darkness, pitch-darkness, and that would need certainly more carrots than are grown on Earth. The DeVoe direct lighting system to be used won't arrive here until "sometime in mid-January, mid-January, " said Rick Becker. "And then it'll take some time to install. So we've now scheduled the opening for January 22nd, by which time everything should be running right and smoothly. ' ' Both members and non-members non-members will be allowed indoor in-door court time, however card-carrying racqueteers will receive an eight dollar break, paying $7.00 per court hour (non-members $15.00) and for. non-rush r "hours" only $5.00 (non- members $13.00). Ther membership drive, Mr. Becker told us, has gone "extremely well," and according accor-ding to plan. "Counting the memberships being withheld for the p.u.d. (planned unit development) owners, we're about two-thirds of the way toward our first phase goal." Roughly guessing, Becker said the members already accepted ac-cepted seem to be distributed "about half and half" between Park City and Salt Lake. A membership for a family of four costs $150.00 and for each additional person there is tacked on $15.00. Annual dues for a family membership is $160.00. Senior and Junior single-person memberships can be purchased for a flat C-note C-note ($100.00), the Senior dues being $125.00, the Juniors only $75.00. Although very shortly the Racquet Club will be seeing its share of double faults and shaky line calls, the institution's in-stitution's grand opening take place until sometime late February when the Clubhouse with its saunas, therapy pool, blocker roomst snack bar and lounge area is scheduled, for, completion.
