Alternatives to Holly wooden films are still popping up all over Utah. The Knack, Stavisky and Breathless are three that film lovers might be interested in seeing, and as they will only be shown one night it is necessary to set aside that specific evening to see the flick. Richard Lester's The Knack, and How To Get It will be presented as part of The Kimball Art Center's program on the British Cinema. There are mariy people who are Richard Lester fans, but are not aware of it. A Hard Days Might and Help, through A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, to The Three Musteteers, people have loved Lester's comedies. The Knack followed the Beatle films, but must people have not seen, it since it did not star those adorable mopheads from Liverpool. Rewains' Stavisky wHl be shown on November 29 at the University of Utah's Qsh auditorium. Stavisky is a French political film about illusions of the power of wealth and the havoc self-deception plays on one's life. The screening starts at 7:15 p.m." Finally, a classic of the French cinema, Jean Lus Godard's Breathless, will be at the Salt Lake City Library on Thursday, December 2nd. Godard was thrust into the'forefront of the new wave of French filmakers upon release of this film. Breathless is a film that requires a person to feel the emotional responses being elicited rather than trying to intellectualize what is occuring.
