Pete dominated the 155 lb. division, just as he has all year. He defeated Mike Crittenden of North Summit by the lopsided score of 12 to 3. Pete then went on to pin ChrTs Cornia of South Rich to become the region nine kingpin for nineteen seventy-six. seventy-six. ' ";; Mike Reed also made things look easy as he routed Jim Rees and Howard Mair (Norm and South Summit respectively). Mike pinned both men and captured top honors in the very tough 167 lb. bracket. Doug Ford, the only senior on the PCHS wrestling squad, had to do things the hard way to gain his berth at state. Doug won his first match by forfeit, but lost the second one and had to have a wrestle-back with Jim Cox of South Rich since both men had lost to the same foe, Glen Black of North Summit. Doug pinned Cox in the first period to capture second place honors. :' The Miners finished second in team points, headed only by North Summit; South Summit and South Rich brought up the rear as they , finished third and fourth respectively. ' Friday, February 13, the Park High Drill Team and Cheerleaders performed a special half-time program at the basketball game. This was the last home game of the season and Park High , honored the departing senior ! Cheerleaders and drill team, y The entertainment started with a march performed by the drill team and v cheerleaders. After the march, the drill team and cheerleaders marched into a straight line and sang the Minerbacker song (a traditional song of the drill team). With that, the lights went tout and as they sang "I'dN Like to Linger a Little Longer," Mis Alene Jensen, drill team, advisor, thanked the girls for their support and enthusiasm in the past year. Each senior was to receive a scroll, recognizing all their , achievements in the past years at Park High. At this point, VicW Wallin, drill team vice-president, and Shelly Flinders, head cheerleader, (both Juniors) announced the names and accomplishments of each senior. Then the spot light picked out and followed each senior as she stepped forward to receive her scroll and carnations.' The last home game for the senior cheerleaders and drill team members was a very special and meaningful night. "I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it's special ' and later you say," "Remember when you told me something special?" "And we both remember." "I like you because you're silly. Boy! are you ever silly. I never met anyone sillier than me, till I met you." f "I like you because when I'm mad at you, you're mad at me, too. It's awful when the other person is nice to you . and you could just about punch pun-ch them in the nose. That's why I like you." These were some lines from a short skit performed by two darling "little girls." i. Friday, Feb. -13, Cecil Caliouette and Andrea Allred, two high school Students from Mrs. Bensch's drama class, performed a short skit about friends for the Marsac Elementary School. . The two girls characterized' two four-year-old friends. They explained why they are such good friends. While licking their ' lolipops and fidgeting around on their stools, the "four-year-olds" had the Marsac students laughing till their sides hurt. Andrea and Cecil were accompanied by Patti Prince, singing and playing' "You've Got A Friend." The performance was very entertaining as well as meaningful. Everyone should pay more attention to their friends. Friends are very important people, they can ' make you laugh, comfort you, make you mad, or make you happy. As Andrea said, "A friend is a very special kind of person." - Tournament Results Weight Finish 98 1-Todd Jones (N.S.) 2- Doug Dean (P.C.) 3- Jeff Potter (S.S.) 4- A1 Cornia (S.R.) 105 l-Kevin Orgill (N.S.) 2- Neil Hoffman (S.R.) 3- Clay Knight (S.S) 4- Bob Pace (P.C.) 119 1-Glen Knight (S.S) 2-Arlin Ovard (N.S.) 3-Ernie Kennedy (S.R.) 119 l-Mike Keyes (N.S.), 2- Zane Woolstenhulme (S.S.) 3- Cory Provost (P.C.) 4- Vern Hopkins (S.R.) 127 ' l-Bart Richins (N.S.) 2- Brad Thompson (S.R.) 3- Albert Dixon (S.S) 4- Bart Thomas (P.C.) 132 l-Royal Lott (S.S) 2- Tom Martinez (P.C.) 3- Brent Roberts (S.R.) 4-Max Pace (N.S.) 138 l-Rene Potter (N.S.) 2- Eric Prestwich (S.R.) 3- Greg Pratt (P.C.) 4- MarkLinza(S.S.) 145 l-Rick Provost (P.C.) 2- Richard Lindsay (S.S) 3- CBrent Crittenden (N.S.) 4- Kent Hoffman (S.R.) 155 l-Pete Martinez (P.C.) 2-Mike Crittenden (N.S.) 3- Chris Cornia (S.R.) 4- PhilMarchant(S.S.) 167 l-Mike Reed (P.C.) 2- Howard Mair (S.S) 3- Jim Rees (N.S.) 4- BillCox(S.R.) 185 l-Glen Black (N.S.) 2-Doug Ford (P.C.)
