Preparations are well underway for the annual Strawberry Days Queen Scholarship Pageant which will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School Auditorium. The girls will be required to give a short introduction of themselves, ride a pattern, correctly "tack up their own horses and interview with the judge. The winning contestants must ride the same horse they place on, provide their own transportation and be available to participate in the Strawberry Days Celebration v and Rodeo on June 17 to 20. Besides riding in the parades and rodeo, : the junior queen and attendants will also officiate at the Children's Parade on Wednesday. Applications will be taken up to the time of judging. Kristy is the daughter of Don and Sue Kimball. She is currently a sophomore at BYUmajoringin family fam-ily science with a minor in psychology. psychol-ogy. . . She hopes to start her own clinic for abused children and plans to become involved in the prevention of child abuse by lecturing. She attended Orem High School and excelled scholastically. Melissa is the daughter of Roy and Deanne Despain. She has been on the honor roll in high school and has received recognition for leadership leader-ship abilities in the FBLA Club. She will be attending Weber State University Uni-versity in the fall and plans on pursuing pur-suing a law and communications, degree with an emphasis on government govern-ment affairs. She has been involved in many extracurricular activities throughout through-out high school, including orchestra, orches-tra, a cappella choir and cheerleading. She has been actively involved with the studentbody and has performed per-formed as cheerleader, varsity songleader, and a member of the Orchesis Dance Team. She recently was selected to be a songleader for UVCC for the 1992-93 school year and was awarded a scholarship. Future plans include becoming a paralegal assistant and attending BYU majoring in law with a minor in accounting.
