' Escaped to America After concert and film appearances ap-pearances in Scandinavia, Borge took the last wartime ship from Finland to the United States, arriving almost penniless penni-less and unable to speak English. Lindstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lindstrom of Manila and Bradley Stevens, ; son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stevens, also of Manila, were presented their Eagle Badges last Wednesday evening, during the monthly District Court of Honor. Larry and Bradley are both members of Troop 26, of the Manila Ward, with Russell Jol-ley Jol-ley as scoutmaster. Nyla Smith Named Secretary at UTC ' The appointment of Miss Nila Smith of Pleasant Grove to the office of Executive Secretary-Treasurer Secretary-Treasurer to the Associated Students of Utah Technical College Col-lege at Provo, was announced "by Gary Houser, studentbody president. Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nyal J. Smith of Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High last spring , and is a freshman in business and secretarial science at UTC. New Officials Named by Timp Scouters The Timpanogos District Scout Committee met 'in their' monthly meeting this past week and elected new officers for the 1.K57-G8 scout year. Bob Pen-rod Pen-rod was selected by the District Nominating Committee and elected ele-cted by the members of the distirct to serve as District Chairman. Mr. Pcnrod replaces S. Hal Haycock, who served as chairman for the past 7 years. Larry Lee nas been apjwinted by the Utah National Parks Council to serve with Mr. Pen-rod Pen-rod as District Commissioner. Mr. Lee replaces George R. Paul, who has served for four years as commissioner. OUter members of the Dist- rict scout organization are: Phillip Hanks, Vice Chairman; Walter - Brock, Advancement Committee Chairman; Gordon ' Allred, Organization and Extension Ex-tension Committee Chairman; Glen Phillips, Health and Safety Saf-ety and Finance Committee Chairman and George R. Paul Camping and Activities Chairman. Chair-man. Serving with Mr. Brock on the Advancement Committee are Daryl Huish, Calvin Walker and Roland Haycock. According Accord-ing to Chairman Penrod other men are being selected to assist as-sist on the various operating committees. Working with Mr. ' Anderson is Gene Colledge, Explorer Ex-plorer Cabinet Advisor.
