North of Midway announce the February wedding plans for Family Gathers in Lehi for Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Horace Had-field Had-field of Lehi were hosts to family fam-ily members last Sunday when a delicious turkey dinner, with all the trimmings, was served. Invited guests, with Mr. and Mrs. Hadfield and their daugh-terRa daugh-terRa Mae, were Mr. and Mrs. 0. M. Shoemaker and Mrs. .Bryant .Bry-ant Hicks of Pleasant Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hadfield, Had-field, son and daughter-in-law of the hosts, from American Fork. ' During the afternoon, the three sisters called their young-; est sister, Mrs. R. G. (Marva) Smth. in Kiona, Washington, and talked with heron the three phones in the Hadfield home. The four sisters haven't been together for two years. Marva is recuperating at her home in Kiona after undergoing major surgery on Jan. 17 in a hospital in Richland, Washington. Washing-ton. She is doing as well as can be expected. : The dinner was in honor of Mr. and Mrs, J. H. Hadfield. Sergeant ; Hadfield leaves on Feb. 5 for Camp McClellan, Alabama for officers training school. Mrs. Hadfield, a senior at BYU, will stay here and attend at-tend school, where she will graduate in June. Free Showing Feb. 8 ' Of Mental Health Film 'Cry for Help' The Mental Health Association Associa-tion is very pleased to notify its members and friends that arrangements have been completed com-pleted to present a free public showing of the film "The Cry for Help." The film will be shown on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. in the American Fork City Hall. Group Hears Talk On Communism ' Mrs. Ludle Walker gave a discussion on "What we can do about Communism," to the G. The couple will be married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Feb. 4. A reception is planned plan-ned in their honor at the Midway Mid-way First Ward on Feb. 5. Miss North is a graduate of Wasatch , High School 'and is currently employed in Provo. Her fiance, who was graduated from Pleasant Grove High School has completed an LDS mission to Scotland, and has served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Re-serve. The evening was spent in visiting vis-iting and forty relatives and friends came to wish Cathy well and to' bring lovely gifts. Delicious refreshments were served. Mr. Covalt, son of Mr. and. Mrs. Joseph Covalt of Hawaii, is attending school in' Cedar City, and at the completion of this school year, the young couple will go to Hawaii to spend the summer. Mountain States Telephone Local Girl Hurt in Guard Rail Crash On Interstate 15 Patsy Ellen At wood Maddox, 22, Pleasant Grove, received, back injuries at about 3:40 a.m. last Saturday morning. According Accord-ing to the Utah Highway Patrol she apparently dozed at the wheel and her car crashed into a guard rail on Interstate IS one mile north of Provo. She was treated at Utah Valley Val-ley Hospital and released to her home. Other passengers in the car ' were Marilyn Humphries, 22, Provo; Stella Boren, 20, Or-em Or-em and Abe Jiron, 22, Salt Lake City. Miss Humphries was treated for bruises and abrasions; Miss Boren was treated for abrasions and Mr. Jiron received treatment treat-ment for head lacerations. All were released from Utah Val-. Val-. ley Hospital following treatment J. A. Wests Are Back From California yisit Mr. and Mrs. Junius A. West returned home last Friday after visiting their children and points of interest in Southern California. They were gone for a month. In Pasadena, they visited Dr. Don H. Anderson and wife Louise Lou-ise West Anderson, and their six children. While there they also enjoyed the New Years Rose Parade. In Redlands they visited Dr. and Mrs. J. Robert West and their five children. A new baby recently arrived there. While in Fullerton, they stayed stay-ed with Dr. and Mrs. William J. West and their five children. They report a most pleasant and rewarding vacation, but are happy to be home again. Daughter, Mother Are Back from Trip to Hawaii LINDON Mrs. Keith (Wanda) (Wan-da) Grames of Lindon and her mother, Mrs. Orba Shelley of Provo,-have just returned from a very exciting trip to Hawaii. They flew to San Francisco, and then on to Honolulu. They attended church services at the Makiki Ward in the Honolulu Stake, took : bus tours of the island and boat tours of Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. Me-morial. They had the privilege of going go-ing with their son Warren, who is now in the service, and his wife, through the Hawaiian LDS Temple, "to be with them as they received their own endowments. endow-ments. ' ' They returned home this past week after being gone for almost al-most three weeks, enjoying the many customs of the Hawaiian islands and its people. " t-' ' , , Eld red Senior Citizen Center to Open" With Festivities The opening of Eldred Senior Citizens Center" in Provo will be observed with a three-day period per-iod of festivities, Feb. 7 through Feb. 9. Theme for the event is "Love Makes the World Go Round" and the programs are being arranged ar-ranged by the Provo Senior Citizens Cit-izens Council on Aging. ' Senior Citizens of Pleasant Grove are invited to attend the" festivities all three days. Sat-urday. Paula Wall was a third place -winner in oratory, winning win-ning over approximately 160 students in that category. Mary Jo Story, nominated as secretary secre-tary of the assembly, and Alan Warnick, won "superior" ratings rat-ings in Legislative Forum. The program was introduced by Kffie Adams, who also read a poem by John Cardai. The lesson, ' Since Statehood" was given by Margaret Hayes and Bethel Allred. They talked on Industry, agriculture, government gov-ernment and mining during the course of the lesson. It was brought out that 66 per cent of the land in the State of Utah is owned by the United States government, only 5 per cent of the land is under cultivation. Gas, oil and uranium are a-mong a-mong the newest industries in the state. Maymetta Johnson, a representative repre-sentative from the Club, to the Legislative Council of Utah County, gave a report on the last meeting, where Frank Dix and Lloyd II.
