BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Pleasant Grove City, Utah County, State of Utah: Section 8-10. RIGHT-OF-WAY BETWEEN VEHICLES. A. The driver of a motor vehicle opproochina on Intersection Intersec-tion iholl yield the right-of-way to o vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway. B. When two vehicles enter or approach on Intersection from different highways at approximately the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right. C The right-of-way rule declared In paragraph B is modified modi-fied at through highways and otherwise as hereinafter stated. D. The driver of a motor vehicle who violates any of the provisions of this ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor. In the opinion of the City Council it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of Pleasant Grove City that this ordinance take effect upon its first publication. RADMALL, Pleasant Grove City Recorder AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS WITHIN - PLEASANT GROVE CITY IN A RECKLESS MANNER, TO BE KNOWN AS ARTICLE 15, SECTION 15-6. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Pleasant Grove City, Utah County, State of Utah: Section 15-6. RECKLESS DRIVING. A. Any person who drives a vehicle in willful or wanton disregard tor the safety of persons or property, Is guilty of reckless driving. B. Any person convicted of reckless driving shall be punished punish-ed upon a first conviction by Imprisonment for a period of not less than five days, nor more than six months, or by a fine of not less than $25 or not more than $299, or by both such fine and imprisonment. On a second or subsequent conviction, he shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than ten days, nor more than six months, or by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $299, or by both such fine and Imprisonment. For the purpose of this section, such second violation shall have occurred within three years of the preceding violation. In the opinion of the City Council, it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of Pleasant Grove City, that this ordinance take effect upon its first publication. Council Has Busy Session on M E M c Monday, Sewer Bids Opened The Pleasant Grove Vikings opened the 1965-66 basketball season Friday night with a convincing con-vincing pre-season win. They beat North Summit's Braves 51-41 51-41 in a basketball game played In the P.G. gym. Coach Bob Davis sent 11 players play-ers into the game and all but four of them figured in the 51 point total, racked up by the winners. The North Summit YMMIA Basketball Gets Off to Good Start in Timp Stake The YMMIA basketball program pro-gram this year is a new one. Starting recently was an Ensign En-sign League for players 16-19 and an Explorer League for ages 14-16. Richard Ruffell and Walt Ewell are in charge of the Ensign League in Timpanogos Stake and the Exployers will be supervised by Gordon Taylor Tay-lor and Bill Robinson. The Explorer League plays Thursday nights in the Girls Gym at the Senior High School and the Ensign league plays on Wednesday night in the girls gym and Thursday night in the boys gym, both at the high school. The Vikes Jumped into an early lead and had the Braves by 10 points at the end of the first frame and maintained the 10 point advantage at the half. Strangely enough, the third quarter ended 42-32 and the game climaxed at 51-41. In other oth-er words, the Braves held their own after a disastrous first quarter. Dave Klemm, Viking, was far and away the best pointgetter in the game. He racked up 7 from the field and 7 from the foul line out of 8 for a total of 21 points. Second best was Talbot of the Braves with 11, followed by Dixon, also of South Summit, with 11. The Vikings were also better at the foul line, scoring 11 out of 16 for a respectable 69 per cent. The Braves averaged 46 per cent by converting 15 out of 32. . In other opening games involving in-volving Region Four teams, American Fork beat Murray, 74-35; BY High beat South Sevier, 74-35; Springville beat Bingham, 73-57; Orem won over ov-er Jordan, 58-41 and Gunnison clobbered Payson 54-38. Coach Bob Davis said that the game was fairly close and hard-fought throughout. The Wasatch win made it two straight for Pleasant Grove in pre-season play and is a good start on the road to the rigorous rigor-ous Region Four schedule ahead This Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the local gym the- Vikes entertain enter-tain South Summit im another pre-season contest. The Friday contest was to have been with Judge Memorial, but the Bulldogs Bull-dogs cancelled out, Coach Davis said. The public is invited to the P.G.-South Summit game at regular pre-season prices; of course. by Cheryl West The Vikings successfully defeated de-feated their opponents in their first two pre-season games. The North Summit game came out with a score 51-41 and the game with Wasatch ended with a 56-48 56-48 score. Another pre-season game with South Summit will be played play-ed Friday at PC IIS. -PGIIS A book review by Mrs. Ella Jackson was given to the Fine Arts Club members at a meeting meet-ing held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments were served at the close of this very entertaining enter-taining evening. -PGHS- The Betty Crocker Test was given to the Senior girls Tuesday Tues-day morning. The girl scoring highest on the test from our school will compete for state and national honors. -PGIIS The combined psychology classes took a trip to the Utah State Training School Wednesday Wednes-day morning. The students observed ob-served techniques and procedures proced-ures at the school and visited with the patients. -PGIIS- School activities for tonight include a G.A.A. Christmas party at 7:00 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m., Warden John Turner of the Utah State Prison will speak to the members of the World Affairs Club and any other interested persons. Relative of Local People Dies in Crash Dr. Gordon Lewis, Salt Lake City dentist, who was one of 13 persons killed recently in the crash of an airplane at Camp Williams, Utah, was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Joyle Barrett of this city. He was the husband hus-band of Richine Allred Lewis, Mrs. Barrett's sister. He was also a cousin to several sev-eral Pleasant Grove people, Tnembers of the Lewis family. He is survived by his wife and three children. He graduated gradu-ated from BYU and Oregon State University and began his dental practice in the Holladay area. Dr. Jay Harmer requested that the city designate and establish es-tablish a ski pickup station for those who want to ski at Timp Haven resort. He was authorized author-ized to make necessary arrangements ar-rangements for such a facility. The councilmen discussed the unsightly condition of the abandoned aban-doned service station at First East and Highway 91. The city attorney was asked to see what could legally be done to compel com-pel the property owners to a-bate a-bate the nuisance. Councilman Thome moved that the new city traffic ordinances ordi-nances be adopted. The motion was seconded and passed.
