Ban park field, the Sprlngville Red Devils beat the Pleasant Grove Vikings Vik-ings by a lone touchdown last Friday afternoon. The final score was 12 to 7. The Vikings were doped to win and the betting fraternity were offering three to one that they would. The Red Devils did not recognize the odds and went on to win almost two points to one. Both constitutional amendments amend-ments passed overwhelmingly statewide and also in Utah County. t Voting in the Pleasant Grove precincts followed the state and national trends, with the Democrats Dem-ocrats receiving the majority of the votes. Wardell broke loose through the Viking line and with good blocking block-ing ran 63 yards down the side line for the score. The conversion conver-sion placekick was wide and it was 7-6 for P.G. The. Red Devils scored again in the second quarter. Starting on the Viking 37, the red-clad plavers went to the P.G. 11 in six plays. Then Richard Thorpe launched a perfect toss to Wardell, War-dell, who stood alone in the end zone. Hie conversion failed again and it was Sprlngville 12, P.G. 7. Neither team scored in the final canto. However, the Vikings Vik-ings surged to the Red Devil 13, but the drive petered out on the fourth try. . In Region Four games played Thursday, Orem did the expected expect-ed when they ripped American Fork 21-0 to tie the two teams for first place with a 7-1 rating. And BY High upset favored Lehi, 1813, eliminating the Pioneers Pio-neers from serious contention. In other games played Friday, Fri-day, Provo beat Payson, 21-7 and Carbon swamped Spanish Fork 34-0. The final scheduled league games this . week were played Wednesday, in order that the weekend could be cleared for the Orem-American Fork playoff. play-off. Darreil, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Paul Darreil of Pleasant Grove, has been named to the Superintendent's Merit List for outstanding academic and military mil-itary achievement at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Cadet Darreil, a member of the class of 1966, will be granted grant-ed special privileges 'and will wear the silver star and wreath on his sleeve in recognition of the honors accorded him by the academy superintendent Cadet Darreil graduated from Burley, Idaho High School.
