The reminder, printed on paper pa-per rather than on heavy cards used last June, when the program pro-gram originated, are being utilized util-ized in every Utah Post Office, according to Postmaster General Gener-al John A. GronouskL Pleasant Grove Postmaster J. Ray Mills said that 2,000 of the reminders have been delivered deliv-ered to each resident and business busi-ness in the -Pleasant Grove area. The Post Office Department Depart-ment printed 75 million ZIP notices. no-tices. Half are being distribute ed and the other half will be" distributed In November. . ZIP codes are the five numbers num-bers plactxl at the end of an address which help speed the, mail. The Post' Office Department Depart-ment needs all the help it can get as it handles 70 billion pieces piec-es of mail annually and this increases eacH year by 2 billion pieces. Each of the reminders contained con-tained the ZIP code for Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, which is 84062 and the patrons of Pleasant Grove are urged to write it down and include it in their return address ad-dress on each mailing. " You should write all ZIP codes in your address book, and use them in all your correspondence, cor-respondence, Mr. Mills states. As the volume of ZIP coded mail increases an optical scanner scan-ner will be used to sort the mail electronically at the rate of 17,000 pieces per hour, say postal authorities.
