On Wednesday evening Nov. 2fith the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Mendenhall was made resplendant with light, music, song and felicitations; the occasion being the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Huntington. A splendid splen-did supper was one of the chief features. Next came an excellent excel-lent program, speeches, songs and recitations, making tha hours pass delightfully. The honored guests narrated experiences in , their eventful lives, contrasting the old conditions condi-tions with the new. Tiie songs that were harmoniously rendered, rend-ered, were touching and appropriate, appro-priate, entitled; "There is silver in your hair Jessie," and "Dear Heart, we're growing old." Patriarch Huntington spoke feeliugls of his early experiences experien-ces in the L. D. S church and his acquaintance with Joseph Smith; blessed his many children child-ren and grand children present, and invoked the Divine blessing upon all present The following gentlemen with their wives were present; Bishops Jos. Loynd and Geo. E. Anderson; Messrs. P. H. Boyer, A. J. South wick and L. E. Eggertsen. How to Prevent Croup It will le good news to the mothers of small children to learn that croup can be prevented. The first sign of croup is hoarseness. A day or two tiefore the attack the child becomes hoaise. This is soon followed by a peculiar rouh cough. Give Cham berlain's couh remedy freely as soon as the child becomes hoarse, or even afrr t.h5 rotiirh courli appears, and it will dispel all symptoms of croup. In this way alt danger and anxiety may be avoided. This remedy is used by luanv thousand of mothers and has nivpr iiiM-n known to fail. It is, iu fact, the only remedy that can al tvavube rfpneuded unon and th it is pleasant, and safe to take. For saie by the Springville Drug Co. Moral Cowardice. His life wrecked, his position cone, hiscreditoi s hat ass hi in. a telegraph operator in Biook I vu lulled himself, utter writing' a remarkable letter to the coroner, cor-oner, in which he said: "Every position that I ever had has been lost through whiskey. whis-key. My life lns peen wrecked by its use. For God sake burn every saloon in the world!" Temperance folk will doubtless doubt-less find in this a powerful lesson. les-son. Prohibitionists will make it a text for appeals to close the saloons. And yet tins poor man's logic was wrong as to the cause of his wrecked life. It was not whiskey's. It was his own fault. Whiskey does not hurt the man who does not drink it. Sa loons never ruin men who do not voluntarily visit them. Gambling hells never swallow up the wages of men who do not gamble. If this man's life was wrecked by whiskey it was beause he was a moral coward too coward ly to live as his suicide proved Every saloon in the world might be burned or destroyed, busmen of this stamp would find some other wayCto get drink or some means to wreck their lives. Liquor has its evils, saloons tJiave their crimes, but all the r Oarrie Nations, all the prohibition prohibi-tion laws, can never keep moral cowards in the straight path. New York World. Talks to Young Men Exercise your will. You can resist temptation, if you resist at the right time and at tha mi meat it first presents itself. Aggerssive right thinking and feeling will save you from wrong. Virtue is not a negative condition, condi-tion, a passive state, but an active ac-tive principal, that knowing good from evil, prefers the good Simple untried innocence is not virtue. He ahmo hn-.i claim to viitue who has met temptation, mastered it, risen above its influence in-fluence from choice born j of moral conviction. Get evil out of your heart by letting the good in. No evil thing can eou.o into a man's life unless there- is something iu his nature that invites it, or responds to it. The devil ; a gentleman He never goes where he is not invit ed. When a man is full of the good spirit, the devil will stay out . and visa versa. It is the evil in a muff-responding to the evil that is outsido- that pro duces temptation. Be pronounced on the side of right. A prououiiced character is seldom approached and never overcome by temptation. It is possible for a man to surround himself with a mental aura, a psychic influence an emcnation from his brain that silently re sists any approaching evil that will control his environment, that will protect him as a shield from the vicious thoughts and persuasive power of others. Men have tested this proposition proposi-tion a thousand times and under the most trying conditions. I have traveled, constantly for fit teen years. Have worked among the vicious classes, in almost every large city on the continent. conti-nent. I have met and conver&e 1 with thousands of- scarlet men ami women. Johnson from Cards-ton, Cards-ton, Alberta, Nov. 25th imparts information as follows: It has been winter here for the last month, the mercury running down to 15 degrees below be-low zero. We liave nine months winter here, and three months late in the fall. I would like to be in Sorinjiville during the winter. I am still working for Jesse Knight; I have been here on the ranch for over a month, without leaving the place, and haven't seen a person or a uper that could tell me the name of the President of the United States. Here is the latest about the big things that grow in Alberta. I do not vouch for its truth: A man had his garden upon the hillside just above his house. When he went up to dig some potatoes, he found them so large that he had to take a crow-bar to pry them out. While doing so, a large one got loose and went crashing down the hill with such force that it struck and completely wrecked his house. The noise of the wreck scared the horses causing them to dash up the hill through the melon patch, where one kicked a hole in a large water-melon, which sprang a leak and drowned a brood of ducks before thev could be rescued. Revolution Imminent A sure, sign of approaching revolt and serious trouble in your system is nervousness, sleeplesness, or stomach upsets. Electric Hitters will quickly dismember the troublesome causes. It never fails to tone, the stomach, regulate the kirlnevs and bowels. stimulate the liver and clarify the blood.
