It has been doing these thine for CO years. S. C. Wp.LLg & Co.. I.e Roy, N. V. Ksrl't Clover Root Tea corrects the Stomach More About Water. Apropos to the water question, ques-tion, the writer, will give his experience in attempting to water a city lot the last two years, which will no doubt be iho experience of many. The water runs four bltcks from the place where it is diverted from the main duct, to the lot in question, and there are six lots intervening, where the water is used, and the only means ol turning the water on oroiFisby the use of r cks, sod etc, which permits a small stream to run into each lot, not enough to do the owner any good. For the lirst block in its course, the water glides swiftly down a love ly channel, as fast as a man can walk. For the second it moves sluggishly along through a wide channel, that is overgrown in summer with rank irrasses. where the lute cow from the city pasture grazes for an hourj in order to gain strength to make the homeward journey, where the tadpole flounders and the bull frog pipes his "all is well," through the livelong night. Then it turns again and goes merrily along, singing sweetly over its pebbly bed, un til it is suddenly checked by a huge dam that backs it up, making mak-ing quite a pond, before it can be forced jipoa the adjoining lot. After leaviug this dauj, u pursues its way slowly to the uext uu7rvhWTt aaiir swimy uop skip ana a jump, half Way down the block, where its much diminished, power is checked by tiuother dam, six leet wide aud one foot high con-slructed con-slructed of rocks, slicks, sod and dirt, impounding enough water to irrigate a lino piece of lawn, and now we come to the rub of all rubs encountered on its way. It took thirty minutes for the diminished di-minished flow to run twelve rods, to the lot entitled to the water, making in all one hour from the time it was turned from the last lot entitled to it, before it reached the point last indicated. A loss of one hour. The point desired to be marie is this, this piece of ditch could be so graded, with very little cost to those entitled to the water along its course, so that it would run in fifteen minutes and carry a much increased How, where it now takes an hour. It would seem to be the City's busi ness to attend to these matters, either by doirg so itself or by compelling the owners of the adjacent lot9 to attend to it. This work is of vital importance and should have the first at tention. For Stomach Troubles. "1 have taken a great many differ ent medicines for stomach trouble and constipation," says Mrs, S. Tlie young people of the North Greenfield, O., Congregational church gave a hugging Bocial the other evening and raised $75 toward paying off the church debt. The following were the rates charged: Girls under 15 years of age, 15 cents for two minutes hug. Girls under 2fJ years, 50 cents Twenty to 25 years, 75 cents. Another man's wile, $1 Old maid, 3 cents, no limit Amelia Dennison, who prepar ed the schedule of prices, was probably the most popular of the young women. The girls of ihe congregation set another meeting for Feb. 1st, but the old people say it must be called off, as the b mnds of propriety have already been overstepped. -The recent hugging match has wide ly advertised the affair, and the girls say that if the ond arranged for Feb. 1st is given they will pay off ihe entire debt. The social was more largly patronized by middle aged and old men than by the young men. N.Y. Tribune. The reason why the young men took io little stock in the above social function is apparent, what the old men were paying goodly price for, in job lots, the young men were harvesting every Sunday evening without lime limit and without rice.
