SJHS STAFF WRITER' ' ' Not many teachers get to build both mind and muscle, tmt Mrs. Kelli Manwaring at Springville Junior High is an exception. excep-tion. Every day, all day, she is on the go, whether it is teaching one of her five science classes or instructing in-structing her sixth period aerobics class. She is constantly con-stantly doing something to open students minds and to teach them new things, things that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. As the school day goes by, many students anxiously anx-iously await Mrs. Man-waring's Man-waring's class. "She is so fun and brings out the best in others. She makes sure you are having a good time, Savannah McNitt happily explained. Mrs. Manwaring has a unique style of teaching that makes learning easy and fun for all students. As a result, he is well thought of by both faculty and students. People listen when he talks, and he brings a calming influence on our school. Mr. Frossard has also demonstrated strong leadership lead-ership as the Math Department's Depart-ment's chair. The math department de-partment is at the forefront of curriculum and assessment assess-ment at Springville High School. Mr. Frossard has been a leader on the collaboration team and demonstrated a commitment to professional profes-sional development. He is a regular at conferences and workshops. He has been involved in-volved in the National Honor Hon-or Society. He teaches AP calculus and runs the ACT preparation class. When asked how he felt about receiving the award, Mr. Frossard said, "Springville "Spring-ville High School is a great place to work. There are many great teachers here. I am honored to have received re-ceived this award. It is greatly appreciated." Congratulations. Con-gratulations. Mr. Frossard! "I have always wanted to teach junior high, and I also knew that the community com-munity support at SJHS was very high, which is really helpful to a new teacher," she said. Miss Jarvis explained that the faculty, staff and students stu-dents have been wonderful wonder-ful to work with. Mrs. Manwaring is always al-ways there to lend a hand and to help out a fellow teacher or student. You may ask if its teaching is going to affect af-fect her barrel racing but she said, "I compete mostly most-ly on the weekend and in the summer, so having both of those off makes it a lot easier to make it to all of my competitions." Jarvis We've got a new look check it out. ill "Fiddler on the Roof " a big Kristi Hatch SJHS STAFF WRITER Excited parents, students, stu-dents, and friends lined up at Springville Junior High School on Wednesday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 11, highly anticipating anticipat-ing the start of the school play, "Fiddler on the Roof Junior." Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Gleave, Springville Junior High School and Mapleton Junior Ju-nior High School students put countless hours of hard work and effort into making mak-ing this a great production. Students were nervous and excited before putting on the show. "It's always hard putting on the first show because you don't know if people will like it," said Julianna Sheffield, who played the Fiddler. Malary Hatch, who played one of the mothers, moth-ers, said, "I was excited because I love putting on shows. I wasn't nervous at all." Students thought that they did really well.D"I think it went good. I tried my best, and I felt like I did a good job," said Mike Bartholomew, Bar-tholomew, who played one of the Russians. Students also thought that the audience liked it. "I think they really liked it. They gave us a standing ovation on opening night," said Julianna Sheffield. Malary Hatch remarked, "They were screaming after af-ter every song, so I think they liked it a lot." Mrs. Walker, one of the directors of "Fiddler on the Roof Junior" believes that all the hard work of the students paid off, "There is great satisfaction in putting put-ting your whole heart and soul into a project. And we all did that!" Elizabeth Elliott, who played a daughter, agrees with her. "The audience enjoyed en-joyed it, and if I can make people happy it's worth my time," she said. I !U I it, also. "I saw all of my friends and they did a good job," said Holly Sumsion, an eighth grader at SJHS.
