Thomas, Taggart Isaac, Jed Corless and Norm Banks, the Springville Spring-ville Utility Department Team one, out maneuvered every other city utility department de-partment in Utah County at the recent Backhoe Rodeo at the Utah County Fair to win first place. Sponsored by Questar and held at the fair, the Backhoe Rodeo required finesse and finite skill from operators of machinery most often thought of as large and unwieldy. A plastic teaspoon taped onto the backhoe bucket was used to pick up an egg and transfer it to another spot. Dowels were taped to the bucket tines and operators were required to pick up a pop bottle by inserting the dowel into the narrow neck of the bottle and setting the bottle down upright on a target. As the baton passed from machine to machine, each team member performed the required task and the team who completed the set of tasks, with the least mistakes, in the fastest time won. -VVj f 170 N Main P&nls!i Fork 8i-78-2485 Llnfierle AfiQlt NoielOes Keeping ctati Housewives Happy Since 1980 yj, -mm rvn n r v Pvm Mon-Frl 10am-6pm Sat 9am-5pm 268 W.
