Show Thursday, July 24, 2008 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 'The Errand of Angels' depicts the V reality of missionary work m Austria Local singer seeking votes Excel Entertainment and Mirror Films are proud to announce the August 22 theater release of "The Errand Er-rand of Angels" a warm but honest depiction of missionary life. BYU graduate Heidi Johnson served a Mormon mission in Austria more than a decade' ago and has felt inspire to share her story on the big screen ever since. Even without an understanding under-standing of how to make her experience into a movie, mov-ie, Johnson wrote her story sto-ry anyway, believing that it would somehow come to fruition. When Austrian LDS film-maker Christian Vuis-sa Vuis-sa read Johnson's story he promptly fell in love with it. Together he and Johnson brought the story to life as a major motion picture. The final movie is comprised of much of Johnson's original mission story, and works in several of Christian's own mission experiences as well. "I am so pleased with how this film turned out, says Vuissa. "It's funny and awkward and occasionally occa-sionally serious. Just like a mission,'' he laughs. "The film is gorgeous. The Austrian countryside is so beautiful and the acting act-ing is top notch," says Randy Ran-dy Davis, general manager of Excel Entertainment. "It's such a fresh look at Mormon missions and people peo-ple that have seen it have , really gushed about it." "The Errand of Angels" recounts the moving experience ex-perience of main character charac-ter Rachel Taylor's mission mis-sion to Austria. There she struggles with the foreign culture, odd cuisine and an unbearably grumpy mission mis-sion companion, as she seeks to find her place in the world. "Serving a mission is re-, ally one of the most profound pro-found things that Mormons experience," says Heidi Johnson. "I think that is why our film is resonating with people so much. They feel an immediate deep connection with it." "The Errand of Angels" An-gels" won the Best Picture Award at the 2008 Thuri-derbird Thuri-derbird Film Festival. It also won an ward from the 2008 WorldFesti International Inter-national Film Festival and was selected for the Fall-brook Fall-brook Film Festival in California. Cali-fornia. The film also played to a sold-out audience at this year's BYU Women's Conference. . M i. : ; "It was inspiring .to watch this movie with a room full of women," actress ac-tress Erin Chambers says of the Women's Conference. Confer-ence. Starting July 1st, Mapleton Ma-pleton City, with the help and cooperation of some of the citizens, introduced modified arrangements designed to reduce traveling travel-ing and fuel costs involved in their garbage collection service. The area selected for this trial arrangement includes all 700 properties proper-ties situated to the east of Main Street, between 1600 South and 1200 North. Residents on the west side of Main Street are also included. in-cluded. Under this new collec- . tion system, residents whose homes face towards the north are required to i place their garbage cans on the north side of the street and residents of east facing properties, are to place their garbage cans on the east side of the street. "The garbage collection vehicles are able to pick up and empty all the garbage gar-bage cans on a single side of the street," said Bob Bradshaw, city administrator. admin-istrator. "This removes the need for the truck to make a second run down the same streets thus achieving significant fuel savings." Under the new system, there is no change to the existing day for garbage collection in any area. If citizens are unable to push their garbage can(s) to the opposite side of the street, because of a walking walk-ing difficulty or other health concerns, they should contact the staff at the city Engineering Public Works Department, Depart-ment, 489 6253, so that the city can make special arrangements to assist "them. "Starting June 9th, a weekly notice was placed on all garbage cans reminding re-minding citizens of the impending revisions as outlined. We hope, with the cooperation of the citizens that this trial will prove successful enabling us to expand its operation throughout the city and avoid any increases that would otherwise oth-erwise have become necessary nec-essary because of high fuel cost charges." Bradshaw Brad-shaw said. ( Behind this ear lies an engineering masterpiece Open Ear Technology is the most revolutionary development in hearing care since the introduction of digital hearing aids.
