Been There, Done That: Your Liz Elder Taking my granddaughter granddaugh-ter to Pet Smart yesterday was a great day. She's three. How great is it to see your first full tank of silvery blue guppies and Spanish-treasure-sized goldfish? And cages full of blue and white parakeets? We went to buy some new toys for the dog. Of course, I'd been promising promis-ing this for three weeks, so it was too late to cancel when she remembered. I was kind of dreading it because be-cause I was so focused on a bunch of chores I wanted to do at home, like laundry and the dishes, and I really hate to loose momentum on those things. It seems like I'm always almost caught up, the illusive end of all housework just over Looking for a Great Garage Door? 1932 N. MAIN St. Utah County's Reel Estate V Wildlife Service's Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program. In 1942, the Utah Division Divi-sion of Wildlife Resources (Division) purchased a 124.7-acre parcel to pro vide winter range for big game species and hunting opportunities. The site is the horizon. I love to baby sit my grandkids. These days of having these tiny people are so short. Soon they'll be completely gone for good. There will be no calling call-ing up my granddaughter's three-year-old self and asking ask-ing how she is. This person is just here for right now. If it's been awhile, it's just wonderful to hold her little body in my arms and show her the world. But after a couple of days, reality re-ality sets in and the toys on the floor pile up and I want it to be my turn. Plus, I'm old and I get tired. But when I think back on my best days, these are the days I remember. It was like being in a fairy tale showing her this amazing art for the first time. Little kids respond to beauty in the most refreshing re-freshing way. They're not bothered by what they're supposed to like, but they recognize what they do like. Another wonderful spring day spent outside in the back yard blowing bubbles was a best day. Or the day we got a helium tank and sent balloons with notes on them all over the world. "The worst day fishing is better than the best day working," saith the wisdom wis-dom of the bumper sticker. Why exactly is it better? Is it because you're sitting around, outside, doing essentially es-sentially nothing while being able to kid yourself that you're actually doing something? Is it because you can buy gear, toys, a new truck and a dog, all in the name of providing for your family? Two trout equals $500 in fishing gear and time off from work; another $5000 gets you a trip to Alaska for salmon. If I were to use those criteria, my worst day doing do-ing the laundry would be better than my best day doing anything else. It smells good, it's not a lot of effort, I can buy gear for it, and I can say I'm getting get-ting something done while essentially just standing there sorting and stuffing clothes into the washer. The 3.8 acres of the WMA is located directly direct-ly adjacent to a housing development. de-velopment. In early April 2007, a developer illegally trespassed on the parcel and began unauthorized earthwork on the site. The earthwork removed all vegetation on the site and completely r econtour ed the site to create a detention basin for flooding events. As a result of the actions by the developer and the ongoing housing growth surrounding the WMA, the Division proposes to dispose of the parcel. The developer will donate 7.5 acres of land with suitable habitat for the Federally endangered June sucker to the Division. Public comments were solicited on the draft EA through a public news release for 15 days and were available online at http:mountain-praie.fws. gvfederalassistance. Two comments were received and are addressed in the final EA. The EA detailed the project and analyzed potential impacts and effects ef-fects on affected resources. Best fresh air, and frequently to sit and talk with someone special. Some of my best days involve conversations at inconvenient times. It's safe to say that conversations conversa-tions with your kids are at inconvenient times about 90 percent, of the time. Last week I visited one of my kids in New York City. I love New York, not that I've been there that often. But one of my best days was going with my dad and seeing "Camelot" with Julie Andrews and Richard Burton when I was in high school. I don't remember much about the play (it didn't dawn on me until years later that it had been special) or New York, I remember being with my dad, just us, for a few special spe-cial days. Last week, we went to Central Park and walked down this beautiful lane of trees called the Mall. My bad knee hurt like crazy, and really, if I lost about 50 pounds, I'm sure about . 17 other things would have felt better. The question I ask myself every time I walk a lot is, "Was that cookie worth this?" But what a great day. What a quiet moment of beauty to share. I've been thinking about what my best day would be. Christmas, my birthday, birth-day, wedding days. Obviously, Obvi-ously, all of those days are wonderful. (Or just too fraught with expectation.) But for me, great days are always simple days.
