The draft Memorandum Mem-orandum of Understanding Understand-ing (MOU) between The Pointe and Mapleton City was also passed with some conditions imposed by the city including the setting aside of an acre of land for a fire substation. substa-tion. The council discussed making changes to the development code regarding regard-ing planned development zones. They unanimously approved a motion concerning con-cerning phased projects that set 'an expiration date of eight years from the date of the original city council approval of a preliminary plat. This eight-year period may be extended by the planning commission if substantial progress is being made and no ordinance changes chang-es have occurred. Shiloh Sorensen, representing rep-resenting the Quail Run subdivision, was granted a rezoning request for property located at 800 West and 1400 South from Agriculture-Residential (A-2) to A-2 with TDR receiving rights. The motion to approve passed unanimously. The council discussed the uses of the Mapleton City Building facilities. The Mapleton Chorale, which regularly practices prac-tices in the building on Thursday nights, has been asked to relocate for five weeks while the city recreation program conducts a R.A.D class (a self-defense for women). wom-en). This led to a suggestion sugges-tion that the status of the Chorale be changed to include them as part of the Mapleton fine arts program. Council mem ber Ann Tolley stated that although the Chorale has made temporary arrangements ar-rangements to meet at Provo High School for the next five weeks, "we should revisit this question ques-tion and make them an official part of the fine arts program." Mapleton City had requested re-quested bids from local lo-cal realtors to help sell Transferable Development Develop-ment Right Certificates (TDR's). City Administrator Adminis-trator Bob Bradshaw described de-scribed the bids he had received and the council decided to enter into a contract with Grace Huf-faker Huf-faker from Prudential Realty to sell a portion of the city's TDR's. Mike Cobia was appointed ap-pointed as Mayor Pro-tem meaning he would take over for the Mayor in the event of her absence. Council members were assigned responsibilities over certain city groups to serve as liaisons between be-tween those groups and the city council. Boy Scout Troop 966, sponsored by Mapleton 6th ward, presented the council and mayor with cookies they baked themselves them-selves as a thank you for the service they have provided. so proud of these girls! For us to come here only seven sev-en strong and place 5th is amazing!" The teams finishing ahead and just below the Lady Red Devils fielded between nine to 17 girls, proving that the SHS women wom-en truly accomplished a phenomenal feat. The girls also netted a school record in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.26, besting best-ing the old standard by a little less than a full second. sec-ond. With the Lady Red Devils Dev-ils losing only their senior captain, they should be a strong team next year as well. Coach Mindy Workman Work-man looks forward to next season's now expected standard of continued success. suc-cess. "I'm confident that our girls will step up again next year. Now they know what they can accomplish, and they should be even more successful next season," sea-son," commented Workman. Work-man. Congratulations, Lady Red Devils!
