Devils suffer devastating loss MlSS VM Will ttlMe & StOpiU SprWgMe Josh Martinez and Bill Lee SHS STAFF WRITERS : The Springville JV Red Devils took on the undefeated undefeat-ed Timpview JV T-Birds on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Provo. The T-Birds kept their undefeated unde-feated record by beating the devils 55-12. Led by quarterback Luke Frampton, the Red Devils were able to score first with a pass to receiver Jeff Boyd. A near miss kick prevented Springville from getting a PAT. After that, Timpview took over the game. The speed of the T-Birds was what hurt Springville. Springville was able to score again late in the game. The Red Devils went for two; but, the "Statue of Liberty" play was stopped in the backfield. There is no JV game next week but you can catch the JV team in action in two weeks against the Payson Lions at Payson on October 18th. Megan Conrad and Bryce Frisby SHS STAFF WRITERS In conjunction with Red Ribbon Week, Springville High School will be privileged privi-leged to host an assembly with the accomplished Miss Utah, Jill Stevens, on October 17. She will be speaking on emergency preparedness. Among a list of her many accomplishments, Jill was crowned Miss Utah in 2007 as well as Miss Davis County, and Miss Southern Utah University Uni-versity the previous year. Good-will comes second nature to Jill Stevens, seeing see-ing as she recently graduated gradu-ated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Directly after high school, she joined the National Na-tional Guard. This eight-year eight-year pledge has taken her to Afghanistan where she spent two years serving as a medic. Because of her many accomplishments, it comes as no surprise that Jill has won five medals. This really only scratches the surface when it comes to the many things she has achieved. We . are excited to have her speaking to our school! There is no doubt that her message to the students at our school will be both informative and powerful! ' The assembly will take place Wednesday, Oct. 17, during 3rd period. We hope to see you there! if . n 9 m Li II :' 'M . c'bfl " ; ((' 10 a.m - 7p.m. r a .:' . M rM 90 E.
