They meet Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. For more information call 80149 1-8440. uvsc to ; i!; participate -in Interfaith Conference on War and Peace The Peace and Justice Studies Program at UVSC is sponsoring an "Interfaith Conference on War and Peace: A Dialogue among Jewish, Christian, Islamic and Latter-Day Saint Perspectives" Per-spectives" on Saturday, Oct. 6. The event will take place at the Salt Lake City Library Auditorium. Representatives from various var-ious faiths will speak about their respective religions', understanding of war and peace in the morning sessions ses-sions and then will address their perspectives on the wars in Iraq and Afghani- ; stan in the afternoon. . The speakers include Alex Stecker, professor of History, His-tory, and Judaism at UVSC; Michael Minch, director of the Peace and Justice Studies Program at UVSC, Tom Mc-Clenahan, Mc-Clenahan, assistant professor profes-sor of Old Testament at Salt Lake Theological Seminary, Tarek Nosseir, president of the Islamic Society of Utah " j W ' ' ! 1 I 1 . w- - -' """" The Senior Center took a trip last week to see the fall leaves in Ogden and go to lunch at the Yukon Grille in Huntsville. The group then stopped at the Trappist Monastery in Huntsville which proved to be a very enjoyable experience. After traveling through Ogden Canyon the group also was able to see the wonderful colors in Provo Canyon. The senior ladies below made some purchases at the monastery. The Senior Center has planned several halloween contests including a costume cos-tume contest and a pumpkin pump-kin decorating contest. Both will be held on October 31st. Come take part in this fun activity for a chance to win some great prizes! Flu shots will be given on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Please call for more details. . There are two dinner show trips planned. On October Oc-tober 24th there will be a trip to Gardner's Village for the Witch-a-Palooza musical dinner show. On November 6th there will be a trip to Heber for the Cowboy Poetry Po-etry dinner show. The October birthday lunch will be held on Friday, Fri-day, Oct. 19. The ceramics class will be held Tuesday, Wednesday; Wednes-day; and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dece mber; This will give everyone every-one a chance to finish their holiday projects! The Senior Center will be closed on October 8th for Columbus Day. i,i The meals next week are: Hogie Sandwich, Sirloin Sir-loin Tips, Chicken Strips and Swiss Steak. You can eat the regular menu item, or;you can choose from a diabetic or salt-free meal or a chef salad. Food is provided provid-ed by Mountainland. Meals are served daily at noon.
