There was also an enthralling skit by the student council. Afterwards, the girls broke into a dance that really re-ally allowed them to "strut their stuff." The football team was invited onto the stage and they did a little cheerio to pump up the crowd for the game that night. Finally, every member of the council swore their allegiance led by our new SHS principal, Mr. Robins. The student council proved themselves to be able to serve the student body well this year. Although those strikers strik-ers created chances, they just didn't finish against Lone Peak. Midway through the second sec-ond half, Lone Peak took : an open shot from the right side inside the box at the 12. Clements made a terrific ter-rific diving save but a striker strik-er followed the shot and squeezed a goal into the corner. Springville worked but never equalized. Final score: nil-1 for the first loss of the season. On Thursday the ladies traveled to Provo to face their next-door rivals. The two sides traded away-wins away-wins last year and tied for second in the region. It is always al-ways tough to play at Provo on their pitch that is tilted noticeably from north to south The coin toss resulted in Devils running downhill first. Good thing, because once they started rolling, they ran away with it. The girls came out swarming. They completely complete-ly dominated on both sides of the ball in the first half. They spread the field and held their shape. They challenged chal-lenged every 50-50. They bumped and banged and were not intimidated by the much bigger Bulldogs. They out-hustled Provo up and down the field. In the 10th minute, Kaylyn Swanson worked a ball from left to right at the 25. She slotted a pass to Rachel Fischer in heavy traffic. Fischer controlled the ball and dribbled around three defenders before finishing a dagger to Provo's heart in the top right corner. 4-niL Springville at the half. Provo came out in the second half with the wind at their backs and the slope of the earth on their side. They were also reorganized reorga-nized and they began to reassert re-assert themselves... mostly to no avail. The hole was too deep and the Devil defense de-fense was too determined. All of the defenders; Chase Joyner, Cindy Lamont, Vanessa Johnson, Betsy, Cannon, Brandi Hillock, Kaylie Marchbanks and ChaiDee Woods matched every run. Provo was relegated to taking desperate shots from 30 yards out. Eventually the Bulldogs were awarded a free kick in the 67th minute min-ute at the 25. Amber Wad-sworth Wad-sworth nailed a very nice ball over the leaping keeper keep-er to draw one goal back. It was too little, too late, and the Devils went home with a satisfying win over a very good team on their home field. Next up were an improved im-proved Payson team and last year's region champs, Orem. The young Red Devils Dev-ils had learned that they can compete with anyone and it looks to be an excit-ing excit-ing season. Utah County's j Exclusive i Female ?
