Presently a Bookmobile provides limited but temporary tem-porary services. ' '! To meet the state guidelines guide-lines for a certified public library, there are three main areas that must be accomplished: 1. the housing hous-ing of the library, 2. the staffing of the library, and 3. the book collection, r Item one, the library facility fa-cility is already complete and is located in the Maple-ton Maple-ton City Centen ); For item two, the Maple-ton Maple-ton City Council has committed com-mitted to establish a line item budget for staffing and maintenance of the library. li-brary. i Item three, the establishment estab-lishment of the book collection, col-lection, is the present challenge. The current collection belongs to the Bookmobile and will go with the Bookmobile when that service ends. In order to become anindependent certified public library, it is necessary to have a quality core collection of books. The goal is to have a collection collec-tion of 20,000 titles within three years. The initial meeting of the Mapleton Library steering steer-ing committee was held on April 18th. Interested citizens are welcome to attend meetings that are held on the second Tuesday Tues-day of the month at 7 p.m. Members of the committee commit-tee are Keith Stirling, Lon-nie Lon-nie Oman, Richard Nixon, James Baird, Cheryl Unice and Cheryl Taylor.- Applications for Poll Workers being are being accepted at Springville City. They will serve on September 11 for the Primary Pri-mary Election and November Novem-ber 6, for the General Election. Elec-tion. Applicants must be registered reg-istered voters of the State of Utah, a citizen of the United States, and 18 years old or older by the date of the election. Successful candidates must be able to sit for 14 to 16 hours (about 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.), provide and accept information from others, do basic mathematical mathemat-ical calculations, and read and write legibly. Applicants Appli-cants must also commit to attend training at a date to be announced. Payment is $80 for each election day served, $15 for training, plus some meals.
