Show Thursday, January 18,2007 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 11 6 Leah Lenore Williams Gould Leah Lenore Williams Gould, age 86 of Spring-ville, Spring-ville, Utah, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 due to natural causes. She was born April 13, 1920 in Storrs, Carbon County, Utah, to Hollis Thomas Williams and Katie Cox Williams. Leah married LaMar Underwood at the age of 17. They had three daughters; daugh-ters; LeRae, Linda and Pauline. Linda preceded her mother in death at the age of two, followed five weeks later by the death of LaMar. Leah then worked at Hill Field Air Base during dur-ing WWII at which time she met her sweetheart, R.W. "Wes" Gould. They were married September 21, 1946 in Cody, Wyoming, Wyo-ming, and then sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 31, 1955. They were the parents of four children; JoAnn, Donna, Rick and Randy. Leah attended Utah Valley Val-ley Vocational College earning her nursing degree in 1961. She was Doctors Webster and Kartchner's attending nurse, managing their office, making hospital rounds, attending deliveries and assisting in surgery. Leah was active in the LDS Church and served as Ward Librarian until November No-vember of 2006. She loved genealogy and searched for her ancestors as long as we can remember. Her crochet work won sweepstakes sweep-stakes ribbons at both the Utah County and Utah State Fairs. Her flower gardens were spectacular spectacu-lar and a regular stop on neighborhood walks. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Troy Carter; brothers, Glen and Blaine Williams; and sisters, sis-ters, Laura Williams Bennett, Ben-nett, Eudora Williams Cas-tleton Cas-tleton and Bonnie Williams Woodhouse. We mourn her passing but celebrate for those who are welcoming her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Springville Stake Center at 245 S. 600 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday Sun-day evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 South in Springville Spring-ville and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Ever-green Cemetery. Barnett passed away in Tillamook, Oregon, Or-egon, January 10, 2007 at the age of 93. She had been living with her daughter, Sherry Barnett Schultz and husband, Howard, for the past seven years after her husband, Shirl B. Barnett, Bar-nett, became ill. Faun was born May 25, 1913 to Julian F. Greer and Nellie Roundy Greer in Provo, Utah. She attended school at BY Elementary, BY High School and BY Academy, where she met and married her husband on June 15, 1934. They were married 68 years before be-fore Shirl died in 2002. She is survived by two children, Sherry Barnett Schultz of Tillamook, Oregon, Ore-gon, and Steven G. Barnett (Laura) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two grandchildren, grandchil-dren, Barbara Strasburg of Plaeasant Grove, Utah; and Steven T. Brunton of St. George, Utah; and two step-granddaughters, Sharon Sha-ron Waldrop and Vanessa Hagedorn of LaGrande, Oregon. She also has six great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. She was very proud that she had five living generations. Faun loved to knit and crochet, and while Shirl worked a short time for Utah Power and Light in Price, Utah, she formed The Knit-Wit Club. She also loved to make ceramic figurines and excelled in Marion Jay "Buck" Holman January 13, 1931 January 8, 2007 Marion Jay "Buck" Holman passed away on Jan. 8, 2007 in Grand Junction, Colorado. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Sharlene Holman; children chil-dren - Chad Jay Holman, Cori Gardner (Jim), Troy (Leslie) Holman; grandchildren grand-children - Amy Gardner, Jake and Cody Holman. Buck was an avid out-doorsman, out-doorsman, hunter and fisherman. He was born in Aberdeen, Idaho, and grew-up in Thistle and Springville, Utah. They lived in Springville Spring-ville all of the time they had their children in school . and owned and operated the B&G Dime Store. After Af-ter they sold the business, Shirl went to work as Credit Manager for Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company. Com-pany. They moved back to the Provo and Orem areas ar-eas where they lived until March of 2000. They loved to travel and made several trips after retirement with Faun's sister, sis-ter, Faye G. Losee and her husband, Ferron Losee. Faun loved her extended family and tried to keep up with the activities of all her nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a Celebration Celebra-tion of Life for Faun at the Tillamook Library Meeting Room on January 17, and a graveside service for both Faun and Shirl at a later date. Buck received his bachelor's degree from SUSC in Cedar City, Utah. His vocation was as an electronics specialist, and he was employed by the F.A.A. for over 30 years. His positions with the FAA took him to Las Vegas, Nevada; Cedar City, Utah; and Glenwood Springs, Colo. He retired from the F.A.A. in Glenwood Glen-wood Springs in 1988. He and Sharlene moved to Grand Junction in 1998 to be close to his grandchildren. grandchil-dren. She was born April 24, 1923, in Provo, Utah, and was the eldest of two daughters born to Martha Ellertson and Byron By-ron Jones. Donna and her sister, Sammie, were later adopted after their mother married pharmacist Eugene Eu-gene C. Speakman. Donna was a beautiful and graceful person, with a quick sense of humor. She was popular in school and participated in many activities. One of her greatest great-est joys was cheerleading for BYU High. Donna married Harry Thomas in 1941. Harry was a member of the 10th Mountain Moun-tain division during WWII and was killed in Northern Italy in April 1945. After the war, Donna met Sterling Ster-ling Russell Moore. The two had encountered one another years before as they had been blessed in the same ward on the same day. They were married December 23, 1946. They had a daughter, Marty, and a son, Kelly, and enjoyed a rich, happy life for the next 60 years, until Russell's death in March 2006. Donna attended St. Mark's School of Nursing during WWII. She was a talented and devoted nurse working in many capacities. She served as Utah County's first public pub-lic health nurse, and for ten years worked for Drs. Richard Reece, and Roy Hammond. She continued her profession at BYU Health Center and later at the Missionary Training Center until her retirement in 1988. Donna and Nadine Kimball, her best friend and co-worker, were among in Grand Junction Friday, Jan. 12. A graveside service ser-vice was held at the Evergreen Ever-green Cemetery in Springville Spring-ville on Monday, Jan. 15, where Buck was laid to rest. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Buck's honor to the Humane Society. V , -rU Donna Moore the first Nurse Practitioners Practitio-ners in Utah. Donna and Nadine were pioneers in their field creating and teaching the first Nurse Practitioner courses at BYU, and laying the foundation foun-dation for what is now the Family Nurse Practitioner graduate program. Donna loved life and lived it to its fullest. She and Russ had their most memorable times when traveling with her sister, Sammie and husband Jim, and cousin, Betty and husband hus-band Tom Powelson, to places such as Fiji, Hawaii, Mexico and Europe. She had many lifelong passions including doll making, sewing sew-ing and reading, but was happiest when spending time with her family. Donna is survived by her children, Marty (Allen) Young and Kelly Moore; sister, Sammie (Owen) Oldroyd-Stayner; brother, Dr. Gene E. (Elaine) Speakman; Speak-man; half-brother, Robert B. Jones; brother-in-law, Donald (Charlene) Moore, Portland Or; grandchildren: Staci (Michael) Schoenf eld, Tyler (Sarah) Young, Alicia Ali-cia Moore and Kyle Moore; great-grandchildren Max and Lucy Schoenfeld, and Oakley Moore. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff at The Courtyard Assisted Living Center, Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation, and the Cardiac Car-diac and Hospice units at UVRMC. Services will be held today, to-day, Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Edgemont 4th Ward, 4000 N. Timpview Drive (650 East), Provo.
