Coach Swanson's 4-3-3 began to show how dynamic it can be and the girls were firing on all cylinders. The starting lineup had spunk and speed bi Brit Siddoway, Karissa Henage and Rachel Fischer up front. The midfield had strength and determination in Kaylyn Swanson, Jessica Rogers and Sydney Hamil ton. The back line had experience experi-ence and vision with Kimber KiOpack, Katie Wilson, Jesse Bench and 1 leather Hatfield. Hannah Silvey quarter-backed quarter-backed from the net. In the 10th minute, Rachel Fischer broke from the right side to intercept a lazy drop from the defense. I around both of them on the left side, waited for the keeper keep-er to commit and then fired a left-footed shot through the channel between the retreating retreat-ing defenders and the keeper. The ball hit low into the far post side-net. As in each of their previous games, Springville had struck quickly quick-ly and was ahead on the score-line in the opening moments mo-ments of the match. Fischer's early strike set the Waterford defense on its heels and emboldened the Devil offense. In the 15th minute the girls had a free kick on the left wing from 35 yards out. Jessica Rogers spotted Brit Siddoway sliding open in the middle and laid a square ball to her. Siddoway chipped the ball high to Karissa Karis-sa Henage on the left side of the box at the 12. Henage snapped in a forceful header that surprised the keeper and made the score 2-nil. Two minutes later, Karlie Jensen took the ball on link down the left wing. While the offense was still building in the box, Jensen took a gamble gam-ble from 35 yards out and pounded the ball over the keeper, off the underside of the crossbar, and into the net. It was 3-nil in seventeen minutes! Three minutes later, Haylie Francis rolled the dice. She worked through midfield resistance and took a shot from 30 yards out. It went into the net as the Waterford defense was just getting organized or-ganized in the back. It was 4- nil in 20 minutes! At that point, Coach Swanson Swan-son began experimenting with various combinations of players at each position. The attack slowed down a little and the first period ended with a satisfied bunch of Devils. Dev-ils. Shortly after the restart, Crosby Joyner fired a laser shot from the left side directly into the keeper. It rebounded off her hands and Heather Hatfield followed with a tap-in tap-in to make the score 5-nil. Give Waterford credit for not giving up. In the 60th minute they had a free kick from the right side from 40 yards out. The slicing drive skipped past the keeper and an unmarked striker shoveled shov-eled the ball in for their first goal making it 5-1. In the 65th minute Springville scored on a set play. The ball was sent in from the wing. Heather Hatfield Hat-field collected at the top, fronted two defenders, protected pro-tected the ball, spun on a small opening ana zinged a right-footed drive to bring the score-line to 6-1. Again, give Waterford credit for not giving up. In the 75th minute they had a corner kick from the right flag. A driven ball crossed high over the defense and an unmarked striker headed a blazing shot into the top left corner. It was a stuiining play that was to be commended. The final score was 6-2.
