Show 1 Thursday, August 4, 2005 SPRINGVILLE HERALD Hie Pet Dish Dr. Harold Davis D.V.M. MT. WEST ANIMAL HOSPITAL Can cat litter be used for bedding for small pets like rat and guinea pigs? Bedding for your small pocket Sets like rats, guinea pigs and ger-ils ger-ils should be non-allergenic, dust free, absorptive, non-toxic and clean. Wood shavings, wood chips and kitty litter are the most frequent bedding used. Cedar chips should not be used because of the irritation of cedar oils. The only problem with wood shavings or kitty litter is that occasionally these will get caught in the pets external genitalia causing infection. Shredded newspaper or shredded butcher paper is excellent for bedding and will not cause this problem. Regardless of the types used, make sure you change it every two to three days. Good luck with your little pets. llllKlllBlll:!! i If Youth Football registration Football sign-ups for seventh and eighth graders will be held Wednesday and Thursday, August 10 and 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Park, 700 S. 100 East, Springville.
